Today the Mukuru Community Justice Centre team worshipped with the congregation at PEFA Church in Kware. As we celebrate Easter this is an important occasion to reflect on hope, justice and the power of community.The church provided a meaningful platform to engage with residents on solidarity, human rights and the need to stand together against injustice. Spaces like these strengthen our collective voice as we continue to support survivors and demand accountability.

BREAKING NEWS:

Shocking details in a just concluded survey reveal that only 9% of able bodied residents in Mukuru slum have formal jobs.

In the offline survey with 880 respondents, 50.7% of the participants were self-employed/informal employment, 40% were unemployed and 9.3% were formally employed.

48% of participants had a secondary education and a shocking 27% have a university or tertiary level education.

The findings indicate systemic neglect, widespread dissatisfaction, and a growing sense of injustice, underscoring the urgency of immediate intervention to prevent a potential violent citizen uprising.

The survey was conducted with support from @theKHRC, @TisaKenya and @MapinduziKE.

For some, especially the most vulnerable, social justice is a foreign concept.
