Through #LookWest, the province is investing $241 million over three years to expand skilled trades training across the province. Up to 5,000 new training seats are coming this year, with thousands more to follow. Funding to @SkilledTradesBC will double by 2028-29.
Every region of B.C. is part of this, from the Cariboo and Kootenays to the North Coast, Vancouver Island, and the Lower Mainland.
With $88 billion in major projects moving forward in B.C., the demand for skilled workers has never been higher. The jobs in clean energy, critical minerals, aerospace, shipbuilding, transportation, and construction are coming. The question was always going to be who gets to fill them. The answer? British Columbians.
Controlling our own economic destiny means investing in the people who build the homes, the hospitals, the clean energy projects, and the infrastructure that holds this province together. That's the choice this government makes every day.
A historic day for @Camosun as we marked the start of construction on the first student housing project in college history. The building will provide 429 beds and create spaces for students to live, study and build community. Grateful to all partners who made this possible.
It's the last day of session! Proud of the progress we’ve made this spring: strengthening protections for international students, investing $241M to expand skilled trades training, and launching Western Canada’s first new medical school in nearly 60 years. On to the next chapter.
Today is the last day of the spring 2026 sitting! Thank you to the MLAs, staff, and media who keep #bcpoli running.
We hope this I Think You Should Leave-inspired compilation captures the funnier (and more chaotic) moments from the past months. Turbo Team, out!
BC has championed this project for years and we successfully pushed for it to be added to the federal major projects list. Proud of our work to build the foundation for this landmark export deal, which strengthens the entire country’s economy.
A trade is a way to build a life in BC w/o leaving home. Starting in 2026/27: up to 5,000 new training seats, shorter waitlists, more funding per seat. $241 million over three years. The largest investment in trades training BC has ever made.

Surrey’s growth is creating opportunity, and we’re building a future-ready workforce by expanding skills training, and creating pathways to good-paying jobs through Look West.
In honour of his legacy and all he brought to our province, Premier @Dave_Eby announced that the Site C dam and generating station has been officially named The John Horgan Dam and Generating Station; powering British Columbia for generations.
@DevaniAlkarim@SkilledTradesBC We've got some great institutions like BCIT, SFU, Okanagan College, and Vancouver Island University, that have programs that do just that!

Today, Hon. @adriandix , Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions, Charlotte Mitha, our President and CEO, and @G_Anderson1, MLA for Nanaimo-Lantzville, announced that we’re advancing clean energy with four new wind projects in northern B.C. and the southern Interior. Selected through the 2025 call for power, these projects will support jobs, investment, long-term growth across province, and deliver enough clean electricity to power 350,000 homes. We have major projects across B.C. in clean energy, critical minerals, and construction.
We're making sure people in B.C. are first in line for those jobs with 5,000 new trades training seats, and the biggest commitment B.C. has ever made in the trades.

We’re building this province with BC workers — and today we’re investing in the next generation of them.
BC has 50,000 registered apprentices — the most the province has ever had. Our Look West plan provides $241 million in trades training that will benefit thousands across BC.
Former Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban has fulfilled the $10 million pledge that he made towards Montreal Children's Hospitals over a decade ago.

Thinking about Joan and her family right now as she battles hard in hospital.
Joan has been a fighter her whole life — that’s not going to change now.
Please keep her in your prayers during this critical time for her and everyone who loves her.
@KielGiddens The last time anti-worker politicians ran public infrastructure without labour protections, workers on the Canada Line were paid as little as $3.47/hour. It's clear who you want to win, and it isn't workers. Glad this abomination of a bill was voted down.
Bill M233 was a direct attack on BC workers, fair wages, and safe job sites. Last night it got what it deserved: voted down.
Proud to be part of a government that continues to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the tradespeople who build our province.
Infrastructure projects should support local tradespeople and create good-paying jobs — not undercut workers who build our communities.
Proud of our NDP caucus for voting down the Conservatives anti-labour & anti-worker Bill M233 last night.

1/2 This week @BCLegislature, @SChandraHerbert introduced two pieces of treaty legislation in the House-one with K’ómoks First Nation and the other with Kitselas First Nation.
Standing Order 25C allowed me to work with House Leaders (@mikefarnworthbc, @a_warbus, and MLA Rob Botterell) to welcome K’ómoks First Nation Chief Councillor Hegus Malidi / Nicole Rempel and Kitselas Nation Deputy Chief Councillor Cyril Bennett-Nabess to address the House, as well as to incorporate ceremonial elements supported by each Nation into the proceedings. Members were treated to a performance by the K’ómoks Cultural Group and a welcome song by Kitselas Nation Elder Tax’ayee / Anne McDames.
Two truly momentous occasions.
