Practiced thoughts shape behavior. Your words and deeds impact others. When our words/actions wound another, THEY get to say what the impact is, not you. If you only respond defending your intention you indicate that there is only one person that matters – you.
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but if you set a limit with someone and their response is to punish, slander, or gaslight you—their behavior is not your fault.
Also, you have just confirmed why the boundaries were needed in the first place.✌🏼

The current state of American Evangelicalism is what we get when the gospel is reduced to an entrance exam instead of a whole way of living, serving, loving & self-giving. The point of discipleship & Bible study is to grow in relationship with Christ and in resemblance to Christ.
“The hardest thing about really seeing and really hearing is when you really have to do something about what you have seen and heard.”
— Frederick Buechner
“He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.” 1 Thess 5:24
Oh, yes, He will.
He SURELY will.
There is nothing in your life or mine as sure as Christ’s faithfulness.
He has not misplaced you.
He has not replaced you.
If it tarries, He’s preparing you.
He WILL do it.
I call the apology that becomes an excuse an “apoloscuse.”
The apologizer knows an apology is needed, but fears the consequences, and so attaches excuses.
The most common excuse denies wrong intentions:
“I didn’t mean to...”
“It was never my intent...”
“Mistakes were made.”
Leader, go ahead & accept that you’re going to get criticized. A lot of people aren’t going to like you. You’ll never get everyone pleased nor will you keep the people pleased you’re pleasing now. Quit politicking. All you can do is choose what you’re willing to stand alone for.
So many Christian wives in abusive marriages experience this.
If they stay, they'll be praised for pleasing God & being faithful.
If they leave, they're condemned and shunned as having left the faith.
Myth: The presence of good deeds, kind words, and a good reputation means a person could not possibly be an abuser.
Truth: An abuser often cultivates such things for the purpose of deception.
Heal anyway.
Heal even though those who wounded you won’t acknowledge it.
Heal even though the grief can be grueling.
Heal even though some won’t support it.
Heal because you matter.
Heal because you’re Beloved.
Heal anyway.

“According to the Bible, the most important thing to teach our children is to love God and neighbor (Matt. 22:37–39). Everything else ought to spring from these foundational values.” https://t.co/vtVa1zGoYM

We want to see our kids love God and love people in Jesus’ name. We want our kids to know the Scriptures and live by them. We want our kids to make wise choices, and we want to see the fruit of the Spirit growing in them. https://t.co/UY1lLi3Zby
