@margeanu31922@DirtyTesLa I’m actually not 100% sure about that since I haven’t had that exact situation at the time of an update. I wouldn’t think it’d prevent you from getting the update though since they could still just keep it suspended after the update.
Yeah, I think that’s a reasonable assumption. The advancements made with v14 Lite bought some time, but inevitably they will still hit the constraints of the hardware at some point. I would still expect small point releases with minor improvements for a while, but they will probably still need to upgrade the hardware at some point.
@margeanu31922@DirtyTesLa I would say so most of the time. Outside of incorrect speed limit data and no way to adjust the max speed, most of the minor annoyances just come down to user preference.
v14.1 Lite First Impressions
The Good
- The micro brake stabbing/stutters are completely gone on the highway
- The small acceleration bursts on the highway are also completely gone
- No steering wheel ping ponging
- No phantom braking
- Acceleration feels a little bit slower than on v14, but in a good way. This version feels smoother and more refined overall.
- Lane centering on the highway is very good and there is less sway in the lane than on v14. I think this is related to no longer having the steering wheel ping ponging.
- Speed control is good. It no longer abruptly slows down when there is a speed limit change, it’s a lot more gradual.
- Lane selection is improved and it seems to make earlier lane change decisions to avoid missing exits, but I need to test this over more miles to confirm.
- When entering my driveway, the car slowed down more for the curb at the end of it
Still Needs Work
- I had some hard braking and hesitation through multiple flashing yellow lights last night. The car drove through these same yellow lights fine before on v14.
- Parking. The car passed many good open parking spaces this morning when I got to my destination. My other attempts, it parked over the line between 2 spaces and also parked with the back of the car hanging over the line.
- At a crosswalk with lights, it hesitated and wanted to stop even though there were no pedestrians in the crosswalk or nearby and the lights weren’t activated. It did this going both ways. This is new behavior that I didn’t see on the previous version.
I still need to do additional testing with slowdowns at railroads, parking, and reversing with objects behind.
Overall I’m very happy with this version so far and it seems like a nice improvement from v14. There is still work to be done, but most of the major issues from v14 are resolved.
I was hoping nav update 2026.26 would fix long exit lanes on the highway, but it remains an issue on v14 Lite.
The car enters the exit lane quickly, drives in it for a while, then exits just before it should leave the highway.
Sometimes it makes it back in time to take the exit; other times it doesn’t.
This has been an issue even on 12.6.4, but seems more inconsistent on v14 Lite.
12.6.4 consistently left the exit lane and tried to re-enter at the last minute.
On v14 Lite, it sometimes turns on the blinker without changing lanes and other times does change lanes.
When I tested v14 on HW4, it also did the same thing. Interestingly, it usually doesn’t happen in Chill mode or anything slower than Chill because it likes to stay in the slowest lane, which is the rightmost lane. Wondering how much of this is an issue in the model versus navigation data.
@JoshWest247@Starlink Do you ever have issues with it falling? Mine sometimes will after being in the heat for a long time… maybe I need to use some water for better suction.
