@JacquelynGill I am BEGGING UMaine to adopt this… the amount of time wasted in meetings that could/should be emails doesn’t seem to be compelling enough but MAYBE if we started to put a dollar figure to it and time the intervention correctly…

@beamsontoast @CDelawalla I grew up with it but so many resources from Cooperative Extension out there! It’s not a huge day to day commitment, maybe 45 minutes but there are times it requires more time than that. & travel is much more difficult. Worth it for me, though 🙂

@JinXunGoh One school significantly increased the offer (via adding additional university fellowship dollars). The other told me that I needed to re-evaluate my priorities if I was thinking about money when comparing offers which…sounds nice & all but isn’t very realistic.

@JinXunGoh I know people w/ competing offers who were able to negotiate in social psych (I believe programs put in for additional university fellowship funding to supplement). I was in a closely related field (CB in business schools) & negotiated once I had competing offers w/ mixed success

@pearlhart2022 Unrecognizable. I was born in Wyoming, went to UWyo & count having taken classes from Pete Simpson as one of the most impactful experiences in my life despite political differences. That ability to converse seems to have disappeared. I won’t even visit family that remain anymore.

@robglover2009 Absolutely. Love the pine but being so committed to “Vacationland” while bemoaning a dwindling workforce is…a weird choice. Maybe stop identifying primarily as a place to vacation? Dirigo or TWLSB seem much more appropriate if we want people to move &/or stay & work in Maine.

@teacher_phd It was never about not thinking I was really pregnant or that it “counted,” it was about not wanting to have to endure the double whammy of a miscarriage and all of the reputational damage that goes along with people knowing you have or want kids.

@teacher_phd Sadly pregnancy discrimination is so pervasive in academia some debate whether it’s better to risk miscarrying without any support to mitigate the damage associated with anyone knowing you were pregnant to begin with. I didn’t tell ANYONE but my husband until 20 weeks each time.

@scottcowley Yeah, I’m thinking it’s going to become another thing I use to pre-test before actually using a specific client/context. More innovative or less typical contexts it seems to perform much worse. I thought it would struggle with smaller or more regional clients but not so much.

For those who believe under 5’s can be vaccinated now, I’ve been on a waiting list with my pediatrician for over a week. I called twice last week to ask when shots will be available and was told they don’t have them yet, don’t have a timeline, but now have shot-specific waitlists
