@ahmedshubber25 I have experienced the same with the HVAC on our boats at Vessev. It isn't obvious to most outsiders that AC isn't just AC, that not using your waste heat kills range, and that there aren't exactly many OTS marinized + high performance + lightweight HVAC systems kicking around.
@gak_pdx@tay_loehr@VishakhRanotra Actually maybe stainless. I have to agree that it looks quite Al like in the photo but it probably needs the modulus of steel to not depitch under load. And 316 does have a reputation for warping when you take big chunks out of it.
@gak_pdx@tay_loehr@VishakhRanotra I would guess not 7075 because it doesn't last so well in salt water. More likely 6061 which lasts somewhat well - especially if polished up.
@connorkapoor For all those in here saying it isn't fair or 'what about the cost'. 1. you are in competition for these roles. 2. Even if you spent a year designing and testing the perfect paper airplane you would put yourself at an advantage over your peers who just did their class work.
@river_r4t@connorkapoor The difference is always night and day between students who worked on their own projects (or extra curriculars like FSAE) vs those who didn't.
@river_r4t@connorkapoor My experience from hiring grads - the work is geared towards getting a good grade, they don't teach you to ask the right questions, and they don't give you the chance to throw it all out and try a different way. Those skills are much easier to learn and prove on your own project
@__el__toro__ Incredible what these guys can normalize. Have raced with a few lads who have done IOMTT its was obvious that they were wired differently. Animals.
@bobbyShafto10@__el__toro__@bsk1087 Comes in a little bottle or tube. Here is a photo demonstrating it being used to detect movement between the bolt head and the….. flange of the bolt head?
@ImJustThePhotog@SeanButta@TrooperBob_SC@ABCNews4 Rule of thumb is that unless you are doing a direct like-for-like swap, replacing an inboard with another inboard costs $1 in fitting for every $1 spent on the engine itself (ie a $50k engine costs a further $50k to install, $100k all in). No standardisation between engines.
@SeanButta@TrooperBob_SC@ABCNews4 One of the drivers towards big outboards in recent years is that they have less-stringent emissions targets than their inboard counterparts. Not having all of the dpf and scr gear helps to keep costs down.
@sama Wouldn’t this incentivise clickbait stories in the same way. Subscription model which doesn’t rely on clicks still would encourage more consistent journalism.
