Rest defense can be complex, especially when players must switch from providing a passing lane to marking.
In this drill, after connecting with the 3 attackers, the 2 initial players must quickly adjust their positioning & prepare for rest defense.
Focus and concentration are crucial skills too. Players need to stay connected to the game.
If we only train very short, high-intensity periods… are we really developing that?
Perceiving is important.
But so is the ability to do it for longer.
The Defensive Intentions 🛡️
Depending on the game situation, we can identify 4 defensive intentions to apply during the game.
Knowing who has the advantage (attacker or defender) will help the players adjust their intentions and perform best.
