This is insane.
Scientists have created a liquid that can store sunlight for months or even years and release it later as heat on demand.
US researchers designed a DNA-inspired molecule called pyrimidone that changes into a high energy form when exposed to UV light. This transformation locks solar energy inside the molecule’s structure, allowing it to be stored long-term with very little loss.
When triggered by heat, acid, or a catalyst, the molecule returns to its original form and releases the stored energy as heat. The system reaches about 1.6 MJ per kilogram, comparable to or higher than lithium-ion batteries by mass, and has produced enough heat to rapidly boil small amounts of water in experiments.
Unlike batteries or hot-water tanks, this Molecular Solar Thermal (MOST) fluid stores energy chemically, so it doesn’t gradually leak heat over time and can be recharged repeatedly with sunlight.
If scaled, it could allow buildings to capture summer solar energy and use it in winter with minimal external power.
This research points toward a future where solar energy can be stored seasonally in a stable liquid fuel.
Acceleration is everywhere

Wild to think LA’s most iconic complex was nearly blocked by NIMBYs. Neighbors claimed the stone and steel architecture of the Getty would ruin views and tank property values.

This chart shows when Europeans take time off work. Tricky to read but super interesting. The data doesn't say that X per cent of the country's workforce is taking time off but that X per cent of all vacation days are taken in that week. Germans fore example holiday evenly throughout the year while Italians take August off. Source: https://t.co/YuLgzngerZ

🚨🇺🇸 WHO'S BANKING ON MEXICO? STATE TRADE REVEALED!
Texas dominates U.S. trade with Mexico, boasting $272B in import-export value, dwarfing California’s $95B and Michigan’s $84B.
Illinois, Ohio, and others also play significant roles.
From processed foods to transportation equipment, the cross-border economic engine keeps humming.
Texas alone shoulders over 33% of the trade, showing just how critical it is to U.S.-Mexico commerce.
Reminder: trade isn’t just numbers—it’s the lifeblood of regional economies.

@Muddog44J@Justin_14P I feel your pain. Same draft: CMC, Achane, Adams, and Waddle. Also, I played CMC in week 1 and left Mason on the bench 😓 - that alone cost me the Week 1 win.
