@deeplyoffensive@bonchieredstate I'm not certain admiration is the same thing as saying he was a great President. I like him quite a lot personally, but thought he was mediocre as a President.
@here_not68496@bigseb31213 There is no candidate that "every" Dem wants, so that's the wrong goal. As for who can in in '28, we don't really know the answer to that.
@bannon1975 I never liked the books I was assigned to read in school, but I still read them, so lack of interest is no excuse.
Outside of school, I read hugely the sort of books I liked and kids today have 10x the selection that I had as a child. Lack of availability is no excuse.
@justinskycak Whenever I look up information to verify what someone is telling me from memory, they're usually wrong in some important way. So maybe the optimal tactic is to try to remember the information first, then look it up to verify.
Most people overestimate their level of natural talent while simultaneously underestimating the level of *unnatural* talent they could engineer through consistent high-quality training.
@BristolTed@BelissaCohen@NormalGayPsych Plenty of Jewish terrorists in the early days of the modern Israel. And right now, the US government is dominated by Christian Nationalists who hate the same things extremist Muslims do.
The only mitigating factor in Christianity is that most Christians don't believe strongly.
@necros111@mungowitz Why should they accept lower profits? They expect a certain return on their investment or they might as well put the money in the stock market. Most of these owners aren't getting rich.
@necros111@ostap@mungowitz That's not how private enterprise works. People start businesses to earn a particular return on their investment; if they can't get that, they might as well invest in an index fund.
Odd that you view this as a moral defect of business owners, rather than stingy customers.
@joelgombiner@ramez Yeah, people are so eager to point out its mistakes, but they ignore that doctors are wrong all the time, too. I've been misdiagnosed 3 out of the 4 times I've been to an orthopedist.
@joelgombiner@ramez ChatGPT chastised me over my glucose level and motivated me to make some changes. My doctor didn't even notice the lab report value. Same with vitamin D levels.
