Ros Wardman MICFor, with @scotforestry : “It’s great to open up another round of this funding which was developed with the Scottish Forest and Timber Technologies group as a way to grow women’s participation in forestry careers & increase diversity in the sector”.
1/2 | The results from this spring’s capercaillie lek counts show an increase of 19 male birds – the first increase in eight years. While a genetic study with @rzss reveals new data about the diversity of the Scottish capercaillie population.

☀️ Water scarcity is back in the news.😓
The Spey is currently at 'Alert', but the hot dry weather is set to continue with things getting worse.
We need more projects like our #DelliefureBurn project, which hold more water in our catchment.
We need to 'rewet' our #floodplain
Every time we return to our Allt Lorgy River Restoration project, I am inspired.
This project has brought so many benefits.🥳
For example, during hot weather, the deeper, cooler pools created as part of our project offer an ideal refuge for juvenile salmon and trout.
Huge congratulations to all the staff and pupils at @FordyceSchool from me and all at @EstatesSeafield; a well deserved recognition for all the hard work you put into achieving this and impressing the judges.

At this time of year, we typically see a rise in deliberate fires.
Our crews do not come to work to be met by fire-setting or antisocial behaviour.
We work hard every day to prevent deliberate fire-setting, but we need your help.

When those like me & many other land managers are managing upland estates for wildlife and biodiversity as well as grouse shooting and obeying the law, it makes me absolutely sick & very very angry that some estates are still doing this sort of sh*t! FFS THIS HAS TO STOP NOW!!
There are less than 600 #capercaillie left in the UK. Disturbance is pushing them closer to extinction. It is a criminal offence to disturb the #birds when breeding. This spring, #LekItBe & do not go looking for caper https://t.co/Sjm8pJd3ym #Cairngorms#NationalPark#nature
Day 6 of the #ExeterRewilding field trip and we visit @EstatesSeafield Strathspey to discuss deer management, forest restoration, predators, capercaillie, rural livelihoods. Incredible learning moments in a stunning landscape @UniExeCEC @StuBearhop @daveinnature @McIntosh_Aimee

There were some initial concerns about showing a group of 12-15-year-olds, a deer larder...

No - it hasn't snowed in the workshop!since our last update, two coats of paint have been applied and the keel strap fixed in place. The plan is to turn the boat over on Thursday to start work on the inside.
