Yay! I could cry.
One of the pieces I edited through my @calgarylibrary / @CBCCalgary writing workshops just got shortlisted for a RTDNA award.
Misbah really put her heart into this piece and it opened such a valuable conversation.

@MrFiliplic Hi Joseph, are you checking your school email address over the summer break?
Just sent you an odd, random request about a former student and Grade 7 textbook. But it's for a really interesting story! [email protected]
@HomelessCalgary Sorry, I rarely check this account these days. I was told it's the original facility. Does that make sense?
I've never had a tour of this one so I don't know it as well as many people would.
What shapes your vote?
CBC got such great insight by running these for AB provincial election. Now there's a new chance to get writing support to share your views for the next federal election.

@stephrosch Hi Stephanie, I just send you a LinkedIn message, too. Can you email me at [email protected] and I can share more detail?
A mutual friend recommended you for this: https://t.co/mGFZeI4Y8F
@nkirk4homeless Hi Nigel, a mutual acquaintance just recommended you for this workshop I'm offering at the Forest Lawn library in May. Are you interested?
Happy to chat further about it.
@Qondaalaa Also, and I don’t know if this is a conversation for Twitter or not, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on the nuances of the label.
Would you rather email? [email protected]
@tt_do_u_love_me And yes, I’ve often felt like the whitest women ever while working on this partnership to help CBC Calgary better understand local East African communities.
I’ve never even been to Africa. But as a colleague said, a bridge connects. That’s my role. One I take on with humility.
@sewrawit91@CBCNews Those high school students are Eritrean-Canadians from Calgary, so they're part of my community, too.
So happy to see them win!
Hoping @CBCEyeopener can fit them in on the Friday show. It sounds like they're so excited from their experience!
@sewrawit91@CBCNews LOL. When you put it that way, it almost sounds like a conspiracy 🙂
In reality, I knew many in the community felt discouraged about the fight that happened. So I stayed late to get something online about the robotics team. It's such an encouraging story.
Join the #LeftUnread community on September 8 for a panel discussion led by CBC journalist @estolte about literacy challenges in Alberta and possible solutions: https://t.co/fhgeL7PcVt #InternationalLiteracyDay
