9/ What other questions do you have? We are happy to give you more info on how to plug in, take action, & care for each other. There’s room for all of us & we NEED you with us! Trust those of us who’ve been doing this for decades - we can help you do this safely & thoughtfully.
8/ You might be the kindest, best host in the world, but people seeking abortion - especially if they’re coming from a hostile state - may not want to stay with a stranger. People who have abortions deserve all the privacy they want; donate to funds + practical support instead.
7/ We’re not trying to scare you, but understand that abortion care providers, people seeking abortions, & those who help them frequently face harassment, threats, criminalization, & more. Don’t go it alone - connect with clinics, funds, & practical support orgs to get involved.
6.5/ Do the people in your life know they can talk to you about abortion? Have you asked your own healthcare provider if THEY know how to connect someone to care? Could you get your repro care at an indie clinic (to help keep them open)?
6/ On that note, don’t skip over some of the easier, quieter, more mundane (but essential) things you can do to take action & care for others. Can you donate? Have you talked to the people in your life about abortion? Do you know how to find trustworthy info about abortion?
5/ Don’t skip over the people in YOUR life who may need support - make sure they know where to find a clinic (@i_need_an_a) & fund (@AbortionFunds) & that you'll help them if they need you. Sometimes taking care of each other is quiet, mundane, & private - but always important.
4/ Are you trying to signal to your networks that you’re a safe person to talk to about abortion? THAT IS SO IMPORTANT! But we need you to share that with your friends, family, + social circle - not with strangers on the internet. Let's take care of each other now.
3/ Are you concerned that people traveling for abortion care won’t have a safe, private, comfortable place to stay? So are we! Connect with practical support orgs like @BrigidAlliance & with @AbortionFunds. One thing you could do: donate the cost of a hotel stay now!
2/ There are safety & privacy concerns for YOU & for people seeking abortions (physical, digital + beyond). There are established networks who know how to do this work: plug in with them and do NOT go it alone. We wrote about this with @AbortionFunds: https://t.co/mjW56o3wwU
With gratitude and grace for everyone who wants to get involved and help people seeking abortions: PLEASE stop offering your home or spare room to strangers on the internet. There are lots of reasons not to AND lots of things you can do instead. 🧵
Trayvon Martin should be turning 26 today. Michael Brown Jr. should be turning 25 in May. Aiyana Stanley-Jones should be turning 19 in July.
Our children were killed and none of them got justice. We’re fighting to change that in Congress.
President-elect @JoeBiden will have the power to end the federal death penalty with the stroke of a pen. I wrote this op-ed explaining how and why he should use it.

"To the people who call themselves pro-choice, we are asking you to really consider how you can call yourself pro-choice when your behavior might be anti-Black." @superkwa from our partner @FWHC calling on folks in repro rights take action to combat anti-Blackness #RJ4BlackLives
Now more than ever it is important to amplify black voices, especially from people with disabilities. One easy and powerful way to do this is by following black people on social media. Check out this list of folks changing the game: https://t.co/5ok4EE30Pe. Who would you add?
I see a lot of corporations releasing bland statements w a hashtag.
No. This moment calls for transformation.
Your statement should include your org’s INTERNAL commitments to change, particularly if you’ve been called on it before.
Give people change.

Nurses at Mount Sinai West have resorted to wearing trash bags as protective gear. A nurse manager just died there of COVID-19.
This should not be happening in America. #WheresMyPPE https://t.co/f1czt525rn
