@AP exclusive: Sen. Chris Van Hollen is endorsing Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary, becoming the first senator to back him since Bernie Sanders and deepening a split between progressives and party leadership in the midterms.

McMorrow and El-Sayed *did* take Stevens up on her challenge to release their tax returns: Both candidates sent me redacted copies back in April.
El-Sayed’s copy was from ‘24 bc he got an extension on his ‘25 taxes return

@AbdulElSayed first up in Democratic nom race for MI's US Senate seat: Really strong branding, a lot of exuberance, simple 3-point message and more than happy to lean into populist, progressive stance.
Sometimes when I’m itching for a political opinion, I call my Mom (social worker, working class, big Kamala fan) and ask what she thinks. I asked her about Graham Platner and she said, “Why are you even asking me about this? Did you see Trump started a fund for the J6ers?”
ratioing stephen miller and mogging katie miller aside: @paulinaVEVO and our team at @TheDemocrats are running one of the most innovative content programs in politics. if you want to support that work, you can donate here: https://t.co/NlgAlKeb2w
It was great joining @JamesTalarico and @GinaHinojosaTX today in Texas. They're working hard to make a difference in the lives of all Texans, and will be able to do even more as your next Senator and Governor.
Let’s get it done, Texas!
i think the thing that bothers me is that it's the elitist hacks in dc that are pointing out this non-thing as a thing. this is why people hate politics.
start being normal. the man is a doctor, and he's running for senate. sorry you hate that, i guess
Sorry, but this is BS.
I interviewed @AbdulElSayed months ago, and when going over his background with me, he immediately made it clear that he received an MD but declined to practice, instead pursuing a career in public health.
There was no hiding / obfuscating on his part.
There's this stereotype out there that Democrats are persnickety elitists who obsess over things like *titles* and *credentials*.
It's hard to fight against that stereotype when the McMorrow camp is literally playing title-police on a guy with an MD and a DPhil.
While Dr. El Sayed was wiping out medical debt for over 300,000 people and getting every kid in Detroit glasses…
McMorrow was working at Gawker and doing the invaluable work of being second for a toll road design competition. Really serving humanity there.
You can’t possibly compare his resume to hers.
what annoys me so much about @politico is there are moments where they do such stellar reporting and have amazing journalists
and then there are moments like this where it’s like “yeah someone planted this story this and it couldn’t be any more obvious” lol
breaking: politico has bravely uncovered that a man with an MD from columbia, a doctorate from oxford, and years running detroit's health department is not a "real" doctor. because he chose to fight for M4A rather than bill insurance companies. truly shocking journalism.
