The @StateDept 2025 #Ethiopia Investment Climate Report highlights a deteriorating investment & business climate under @AbiyAhmedAli—marked by political instability, economic mismanagement, & armed conflict—resulting in declining FDI & increasing poverty.

According to the latest @StateDept report: “Ethiopia’s investment climate is challenging for U.S. and other foreign businesses. Internal conflict, notably in the Amhara and Oromia regions, restricts travel, leads to frequent expropriation of assets by either unscrupulous government officials or members of armed groups, and limits the Government of Ethiopia’s ability to intervene.”

The regime’s infantry could not hold its ground in Woldiya.
Unable to withstand the Fano’s assault that opened from within the city, regime soldiers, caught between life and death, sought reinforcement from units stationed in Qeyu Garia and Kobo. These forces moved along the railway line to support them.
In addition, the mechanized division based in Afar Bure, led by Commander Amde, advanced towards Woldiya with heavy weaponry. But they too failed to maintain their position.
At this hour, reports indicate MiG fighter jet activity at Bahir Dar airport.
Furthermore, since the morning, two Bayraktar drones have been seen flying around the city.
Fano fighters, however, have continued their offensive on regime fortification.
Just minutes ago, eyewitnesses reported to Mereb Media that four Isuzu FSR trucks fully loaded with regime force remains were seen moving from Tikur Wuha toward Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al-Amoudi Stadium.

#Ethiopia: A really astute assessment of how the so-called "digital Ethiopia" initiative isn't improving development outcomes.
Rather, it may actually undermine development, as digital infrastructure is being deployed for surveillance, exclusion, & repression.
Worth reading ⤵️
"Ethiopian Paradox: More Digital Infrastructure Means Less Development" via @ICT_Works#Ethiopia presents a striking contradiction to global trends in digital development. While countries worldwide show strong positive correlations between e-government development and economic progress, social progress, and improved governance, Ethiopia demonstrates the opposite pattern since 2017.
Ethiopia’s development indicators—GDP per capita, Human Development Index, and structural change—all showed significant improvements until 2017, then began deteriorating despite continued investments in digital infrastructure.
This isn’t a minor statistical blip. It's a complete reversal of the relationship between digitalization and development outcomes.
Unlike global trends where digitalization improves governance, #Ethiopia shows deteriorating governance despite rising e-government capabilities. Domestic conflicts have eroded rule of law, political stability, voice and accountability, regulatory quality, and government effectiveness.
This creates a vicious cycle: poor governance undermines trust in digital systems, while digital systems become tools of exclusion rather than inclusion in contexts of conflict and fragmentation. @AbiyAhmedAli@PMEthiopia
