History’s Zero: Putin Rewrites the Past. Again

The dictator has distorted the history of World War II, conveniently forgetting that in 1939 the Soviet Union occupied eastern Poland, annexed the Baltic states, attacked Finland, and helped pave the way for the deadliest conflict in human history through its secret deal with Hitler.

The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact and its secret protocol dividing Eastern Europe between two totalitarian powers eliminated Poland as a buffer state and removed Hitler’s fear of a two-front war. Just one week later, on September 1, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, triggering World War II.

Moscow’s attempt to appease an aggressor while expanding its own empire ended in disaster. In 1941, Hitler turned on his Soviet partner, and the war Stalin believed he had postponed arrived at the gates of the USSR itself.

15 children and teenagers were rescued from russian occupation by the Save Ukraine team last week. This became possible thanks to the support of our partners within the framework of the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative. Each of them endured threats, pressure, and attempts to erase their identity. But today, that is finally behind them.

Among those rescued:

🔹 18-year-old Mykyta, who was forced to move constantly to avoid conscription into the russian army. He refused to attend a russian school because of its intense propaganda and secretly continued his education online. One day, he was forced to get into a fight with a drunken russian soldier to protect underage girls from harassment.

🔹 17-year-old Ivan, whom the occupation authorities tried to force onto military registration lists. The so-called “police” repeatedly came to his home for inspections, while a military commissar openly threatened his mother with criminal charges. Ivan’s brother was abducted following a neighbor’s denunciation and was brutally tortured in captivity for six months.

🔹 13-year-old Sofia, who had to hide at home every day until evening so the occupation authorities would not discover that she was refusing to attend a russian school. Her family constantly received threats that she would be taken away and placed in a boarding institution. They also struggled to survive under relentless drone attacks as russian forces deliberately terrorized their village.

For these children, and 12 others, occupation is now in the past. Today, they are receiving rehabilitation at our Hope and Healing Centers, where they receive psychological support, assistance with documents, a safe place to live, and everything they need to dream again and build their future.

However, thousands of children remain trapped under occupation, where they are forced to forget their roots and are openly being prepared for war. But we will not stop.

Ukrainians never denied the Volyn tragedy, arguing only against the fakes and asking for historical justice and recognition of Polish crimes against Ukrainians before, during and after Volyn on OUR own territories. We were home. We never occupied Poland.

The Polish government and their nationalists deny the existence of our country before 1991, deny their crimes, and call Ukrainian territories theirs.

Denying their own crimes and claiming our territories as theirs just shows their true face. Ukraine won’t allow our former occupiers to control us anymore and lie non-stop about our history and OUR territories. Occupation never ends nicely, maybe try not to occupy your neighbours…
