Zimbabwe is a very difficult place to live if you are just an ordinary citizen trying to get on with your life.

Yesterday, a young man got in touch with me seeking financial assistance to travel to Zimbabwe because he had lost his father. I helped him, and his bus left Johannesburg at 5 p.m. It travelled all the way to Zimbabwe and got to the border in the morning, where it was cleared. It then continued its journey into Zimbabwe.

When the bus got to Bubi, ZIMRA officials, who are Zimbabwe’s customs officials, sent it all the way back to the border for another search.

As I write this, that bus is back at the border. This young man left Johannesburg yesterday at 5 p.m., and it is now past 6 p.m. the following day. He had already done more than half of his journey from Johannesburg, only to be forced back.

I honestly do not understand why our government makes life so painful and difficult for ordinary people. It is cruel, painful, and heartbreaking.

This is one of the reasons many young Zimbabweans do not want to return home when they complete their studies. If you are not part of the political elite circle, life can be incredibly difficult. Even those who are trying to live by the book and simply live normal lives are subjected to unnecessary hardship.

It is heartbreaking. It is sad. The once respected Zimbabwe has become a mafia state.

This is an official support letter from the Zimbabwean Ministry of Finance, dated 24 March 2025, addressed to the Managing Director of Ecobank Zimbabwe.
It is signed by George Guvamatanga, who is the Permanent Secretary for Finance and the heart of the corruption engine under Mnangagwa’s corrupt regime.

The letter confirms that the Ministry of Finance has recorded a legacy debt of
US$191,578,835 million owed by Valley Seeds (Private) Limited which is run by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s nephew, Temba Nkatazo.

Ecobank Zimbabwe has agreed to discount up to US$20 million of this amount under a 12 month term loan facility.
The Ministry guaranteed the repayment and undertook to reduce the legacy debt by US$5 million monthly through Valley Seeds’ account.

In the event of any payment delays, Ecobank is authorised to directly debit up to US$5 million from a Ministry of Finance account held at the bank.
These are public funds that are being used to pay a debt owed by a private company.

This letter places a public guarantee on a private company’s debt, committing government resources (i.e. public funds) to back a commercial loan facility for Valley Seeds.
This is highly controversial in public finance terms because it tied state funds to a private company without clear public accountability, which is an undeniable act of corruption and cronyism, especially considering the large figures involved and the government’s economic struggles.

This also raises serious concerns about transparency, as there is no explanation at all of how Valley Seeds was selected, what public benefit the deal serves, all know is that it is run by Mnangagwa’s nephew and that it was used to loot public funds during Command Agriculture days.

This is an act of cronyism and state capture, particularly because the company has political ties. The structure put in place by Guvamatanga bypasses parliamentary oversight and violates public finance principles by committing future government revenues to a private debt servicing at a rate of US$5 million per month.

In a country facing a catastrophic healthcare crisis, underpaid civil servants, and failing infrastructure, such a public finance financial burden is reckless, corrupt and unsustainable.

It also undermines the integrity of the banking system by encouraging politically motivated lending and shielding private entities from accountability, making this a glaring example of the misuse of public funds for private gain.

This letter is written by a man who used to be CEO of Barclays Bank, it is staggering!
He is doing this for the President’s cronies because they are accountable to nobody except the corruption mafia Godfather himself, Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Now why Valley Seeds? We know that Temba Nkatazo is the CEO of this company and that he is Mnangagwa’s nephew.
Valley Seeds, under Nkatazo’s leadership, was a huge player in the corrupt Command Agriculture program which was driven by Mnangagwa.
It has many allegations of mismanagement and corruption, billions were looted through it.

Former Finance Minister Tendai Biti highlighted that companies like Valley Seeds invoiced the government without providing proof of seed deliveries.

A 2023 parliamentary probe found no credible evidence to justify the debts claimed by such companies.
Biti questioned how the government ended up owing nearly US$200 million to Valley Seeds, suggesting that the debts might not be genuine and pointing to a pattern of financial impropriety in the programme.

Nkatazo was also listed among the beneficiaries of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe’s Farm Mechanisation Scheme, receiving a loan of US$323,329.
This was published in a report by the later Dr Alex Magaisa which exposed how the bank was looted by ZANUPF.

If Valley Seeds doesn’t pay this money, it is YOU the taxpayer who will pay it! More to come!

What you are seeing here is the lived reality across Zimbabwe, a country being ruthlessly stripped bare by the Chinese.
I do not blame the Chinese, it is the crooks in ZANUPF who open the doors for them and pocket the kickbacks.

The Chinese are simply exploiting what they are permitted to exploit by a corrupt regime that has sold its people’s future for personal gain.
Take Boterewa in the Midlands as an example. I know this place personally.
I did my O-Levels at Fletcher High School, and I remember being taken there when it was still secure, a place of pride.

Today, it has been destroyed beyond recognition by the Chinese, and the locals got nothing. This is where Emmerson Mnangagwa himself comes from, yet he has allowed it to be plundered regardless in exchange for kickbacks!

It shows you the depth of his betrayal. He does not even care about his own clan, his own province, or his own people.
He behaves as though he is not Zimbabwean at all, tearing down the very foundations of the nation he claims to lead.

This is the tragedy of Zimbabwe today, minerals ripped out of the soil and shipped to China, forests cut down, rivers poisoned, and whole communities left in ruin without a secure future.

Environmental laws are ignored because EMA officials are instructed to look the other way by ZANUPF politicians. Villagers live in dust and hunger while Chinese mining trucks roll past their ancestral homes, carrying away their inheritance.

They take everything; our gold, our lithium, our chrome, and they even bring their own workers from China, leaving no jobs for Zimbabweans. The only thing left behind are gaping holes in the earth and broken communities.

Future generations will look back at this era with heartbreak. They will ask how their forefathers could allow their country to be sold so cheaply.
They will wonder why there are no schools, no hospitals, no roads, and no opportunities; only videos and stories of how the Chinese came with Mnangagwa’s blessing and looted everything.

This is not just corruption. It is treason against the people of Zimbabwe. It is a betrayal of every child who will one day inherit an empty shell of a nation.
This is today’s Zimbabwe; a country handed over to the Chinese by leaders who have no soul, no conscience, and no love for the land or its people.

What colonialism did with guns, today Mnangagwa and ZANUPF are doing with signatures on corrupt contracts. Shame on them!! Mnangagwa ans ZANUPF are shameless sell outs!

It is a well-choreographed grand heist.

Fixing the public health system is good. Using the public health system and the citizens’ suffering as a platform to inflate the value of contracts and loot the fiscus is bad. Imagine if all these millions were actually getting poured into our public hospitals and not fat cat middlemen? Can you imagine what our hospitals would look like?

Zimbabwe is not poor. It is poorly managed.
