Australians see medicine as a right, and health as a collective benefit, not least because there is an intergenerational public cost of poor health and sickness.

Made worse if Aussies cannot access preventative medicines or have to go into debt to access life-saving treatments.

A health system should operate at the lowest possible cost that enable the highest standards. As soon as people have to make choices about whether to compromise on treatments, a country has warped priorities.

No one wants, nor has any respect for an American health industry with lower health outcomes, lower life expectancy, higher chronic disease rates, higher infant mortality.

And extremely high profits.
