Government controls the taxes, ports, oil money, mining money, cocoa money, ministries, agencies and the budget.

Yet a mother can still be told to buy gloves and syringes before her child is treated.

A school can still ask parents to contribute for chairs.

A whole neighborhood can go days without water and nobody can tell you exactly when it will return.

You can destroy your car on the same pothole for months while the road agency knows the road exists and somehow the scandal is not that these things are happening. The scandal is that you asked about them loudly enough to embarrass a political party.

Why do we protect politicians from uncomfortable questions more fiercely than we protect citizens from uncomfortable lives? Why?

Imagine your parents gave you a house almost 70 years ago.

The house has land, gold under it, oil nearby, people paying you rent and every year you collect money to maintain it.
