@jonnyjohnno@greg_ashman The best formative assessment processes often leave no written evidence; just a smarter decision by the teacher about what to do next...
Inspired by the IJADE #Peace@nsead conference yesterday. This quote lingers: "Without doubt, there is no empathy." Creative people accept and embrace uncertainty and doubt—perhaps this is exactly what the world (and twitter) needs. #IJADE2024#Empathy#Creativity#EmbraceDoubt
"Whereas an art education – particularly fine art and visual art – is about setting your own path, setting your own parameters, creating your own project. And that agency is really important to kids’ development." https://t.co/cRdbe68J79
A broader curriculum that leaves young people ready for life. Assessment that captures the strengths of young people. What a wonderful opportunity to put creativity back into education! I'm excited!

Just fed the text of a book—Student Assessment, co-authored with Nancy Frey and Doug Fisher—into Google's Notebook LM (HT @emollick) and it produced a ten-minute podcast as well as a list of FAQs and a study guide. As Ethan says, "Seriously, just listen": https://t.co/nZLmXPYEYn
New year, new school but starting with an old classic. Love how creative, individual and skillful these illuminated initials are, allowing me to get to know year 7s as artists and individuals. #creativity
A well-deserved award! Always one of my favourite London museums and was privileged to have my students work with the architects on the redevelopment project many moons ago. It is truly a place full of joy.
Eisteddfod is such an incredible GIS event, a celebration of all things creative and collaborative. Singing, dancing, drama, mockumentaries, poetry, and artwork! So wonderful to see kids work together, be brave, and excel. Thank you, @Phil_Delmotte, for making it happen.
One of my favourite projects @Art_Gis is the year 8 mask making. Students learn about cultural humility, research the mask making tradition in a chosen culture, and design a mask that explores their own identity. I love the diverse and personal outcomes created by our pupils.
Lots of interesting findings in this report. Too often, children and adults tell me they are not a "creative person." Creativity is a skill, and it can be developed.
Is creativity something you are born with?
New OECD data shows that 15-year-olds who believe this skill can be learned typically outperform students with a fixed mindset on creativity.

🔄 NEW! Scaffolding peer feedback can help make it more supportive, motivating, and actionable. This handy resource is aimed at students and is designed to help them master the WHAT, WHY, and HOW of the peer critique process.
Really interesting piece from @accessart on art as part of the response to the current mental health crises. Thanks for sharing. https://t.co/lq2uzIv95N
