This one is a little hot off the presses as I just caught the public premiere at #TIFF23, but can't help but promote another possible future @GeriInterestGp@NGIG1415 movie night option from Japanese filmmaker Kei Chika-Ura. Anyone interested in starting a Geri Film Club?
#TIFF23 Preview. Kei Chika-Ura's #GreatAbsence is an insightful & intimate look on complex family dynamics & dementia that, like the disease, has moments of real beauty and tragedy. Stunning visuals. The 35 mm adds to that more intimate aesthetic. An incredible second feature!
If anyone in the @GeriInterestGp@NGIG1415 world is looking for a movie rec might I suggest Sundance winner #TheEternalMemory? Such a beautiful doc that follows the journey of Chilean journalist Augusto Góngora and his wife Pauli Urrutia. Would make for a great movie night event!
A truly beautiful and moving doc. #TheEternalMemory is a heartbreakingly authentic depiction of Alzheimer's, handled with the utmost of compassion & grace. Showcasing both the grief & joy of reminiscing what was, and the perseverance of love in spite of it all. A must watch!
Worlds collide! Demonstrating how great film can be used to make conversations on how we care for our older adults more mainstream, great to see @DrSamirSinha at the @PLAN75movie screening at #TJFF! Thank you to @AgelessFilmFest & @JCCC_Toronto for such a thought provoking night.
A wonderful night at #TJFF with @PLAN75movie. A provocative conversation starter on how we look after our older adults through financial insecurity & social isolation. Beautiful moments of human connection interlaced with haunting visuals. Thanks @JCCC_Toronto@AgelessFilmFest!
WATCH: Did you know that scientific data goes into devising the menu at some restaurants? Gabrielle Hebert is a 'Menu Engineer' with @bostonpizza and joined our @PurdyGlobal with more.
Liberalization, simplification and deintensification. A wonderful and concise way to conceptualize goals in diabetes management in older adults as presented by Dr. Sarah Sy at #CGS2023@CanGeriSoc
Today's the day! Welcome to all of our delegates, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors, we are thrilled to host you in beautiful Vancouver! We look forward to meeting you this evening at the Welcome Reception! #CGS2023
Thank you @RogerWong10 for highlighting culturally sensitive care in your inspiring plenary talk #cgs2023 about opportunities to advance the health of older adults!
We need disaggregated data to uncover inequities when studying health outcomes!
Learning from @VivianEwa01 at @CanGeriSoc about Designated Supportive Living Level 4 as a publicly funded option for seniors requiring assistance but not quite requiring LTC. A smart and (unfortunately) novel idea. Would love to have this in Ontario! https://t.co/G6GptC041u
Learning about the fascinating difference in long-term care across the country at @CanGeriSoc#CGS2023 with @CSLTCM. Baffling to see how physician and patient experiences differ, and makes you wonder, can we ever apply best practices uniformly and consistently country wide?
NEW: The Ford government is buying two million additional cloth masks for schools, a move criticized by Ontario doctors, who say the level of protection is far too low against COVID-19. #onpoli.

This afternoon we vaccinated our 50000th Individual at @soccercityvax What a massive accomplishment for our @townofws Proud doesn’t even come close to how I’m feeling. What a team effort. Congratulations @SMCdrPearl and team #onestepcloser#forstouffville
“You can line up and be through to the rest and recovery area in under 8 min..”
TN on @globalnewsto how a group of family physicians in Stouffville used lessons learned from drive thru flu clinics & adapted them for #COVID19 vaccines by partnering with the town and public health
The care of the elderly in Canada has not failed this year because there is no solution. Excellent home-based care is a ready answer to our elder-care crisis, writes faculty @ENiedra in an op-ed in @CBCNews: https://t.co/Shfhlh2IZz
Recently some high profile doctors say they've been targeted for criticizing the Ontario government's pandemic response. @RyersonNIA Associate Fellow @NathanStall joined @cbcwhitecoat to discuss his advocacy and why he's committed to speaking out.
