Wells Wood Lab protein design landed in top 1.2% in Adaptyv Nipah Virus Protein Design Competition in which 680+ participants submitted over 10,000 designs.
This was a great team effort with @EvaNotari, @DrLeucine , @mjstam, and @s_mert_unal@ChrisWellsWood
All designs were scored with MD magic from @EvaNotari and our very own "Stam score" (@mjstam ), and we filtered out any candidates that showed non-specific co-folding.
Fingers crossed for the lab experiments!
We (@ChrisWellsWood Wood's lab) have taken the lead at the @adaptyvbio competition against the Nipah Virus!

New paper in PLoS Comp Biol! @jack_oshea97 used molecular dynamics to find sites for cpGFP insertion, creating functional biosensors in a periplasmic binding protein. He identified known sites but also discovered new ones, which he validated in the lab.

Last week I presented my research on predicting the oligomerisation states of coiled coil proteins with MD simulations at the annual Joseph Black conference organised by @EdinburghChem. Very pleased to have received an award for the best oral presentation in Physical Chemistry.
New preprint out!🚨We performed a large scale analysis of physicochemical features extracted from over half a million AlphaFold structural models, and using data-driven methods we showed a link between these features and in vivo behaviour of proteins. Find out more below⬇️1/9
#pint24 is live!
If in Edinburgh, come and join me at Bar50 on May 13 for a night of 🔬🧪🧬 and some 🍺🍺!
Sneak peek...I will talk about "kinetoplast DNA" 🧬🪢 and how bloodsucking parasites are tech-ing us out 👀

If you're in #Edinburgh this May, why not pop along to @pintofscience to learn about some of the ways current research is revolutionising healthcare? Join us on May 14th for a 🍺 and some 🧪, and find out how I'm trying to make peptide drugs more sustainably! #pint24#TechMeOut
Very happy to have collaborated with @AdamSchofield__@Dr_CR_Coxon on optimising a HPLC focused gradient for peptide purification. Check our application note below🧪
Not sure how many people that follow me use CCBuilder, but it has been down due to computer issues. I'm pleased to say that it is now back online at a new URL with some minor updates: https://t.co/oqjQdb7wvC
@WoolfsonLab
I had a fantastic experience in giving an oral and poster presentation at #PPSG2023 about new #migraine treatments. Very honoured to win best poster! Well done to everyone giving talks and posters today. Now let’s hope #StormBabet calms down so I can get home… @RSC_PPSG
