We need more of this. Can’t let a QB just take off and get all the yards he wants. Hit the QB give him a lick and he’ll at least think next time before taking off and thinking he just pick up 10 and slither out of bounds untouched. Also, its not dirty.

I know there is a lot of talk about QBs sliding… I slid my whole career & never took a hit like you see now & that’s when hitting was allowed!

I don’t believe it’s the sliding that’s the problem, it’s the TIMING of the slide! QBs are pushing envelope bc they are more protected & they expect defenders to just assume they aren’t going to keep running… bad assumption!

Go down early or just be a running back - the in-between is the problem IMO!

Nah. QBs have become far too
Comfortable running right at defenders and dropping at the last second. If they want protection, they should slide well before anyone is near. Otherwise take the hit like a man and move on.

The QB is still presenting himself as a runner while the defender is closing

Moore initiates the slide late, at a point where the defender has already committed to making the tackle

The issue is that we’ve grown accustomed to modern football and its rule structure protecting offensive players to a detriment…. This has normalized bad decision making and processing the QB position, specifically

You can argue whether it deserves a flag….But violent ≠ dirty

2 things:

- only slide if you can get down plenty early (some argue dive vs slide)

- never slide when trying to get a first down

1. I see so many QB’s get ruled down short because you’re down when you begin your slide
2. Defender is more likely to come in aggressive to prevent first down (leading to bad hits)

Cmon Chase. Be serious. I hate that Dante got injured. As a former player I never want to see any of these young men get hurt.

But Dante and other QBs need to give themselves up earlier. Stop trying to squeeze every yard out of the scramble. Defenders are doing their job. QBs need to do theirs if they want protections of the slide.

I have a different perspective. Defenders are taught and trained to run and hit.

QB is running right at you. You’re locked and loaded.

You lean in to strike him and all of a sudden he slides.

Sorry but if a qb is gonna run full speed at a defender and wait till the last second possible to slide… I’m not calling a defender dirty for laying him out. I see guys like Dak slide early to avoid this exact scenario.

I will die on the hill of putting this on the QB. QB can slide whenever he wants and keep himself out of danger. The closer the QB gets to a defender the more that defender is committing to make a hit. Defender doesn’t know if QB is tryna run him over, make him miss, or slide.

The idea that a quarterback can go outside of the pocket, run for yardage and just slide at any moment and the defender is supposed to be prepared for him to slide while simultaneously trying to stop him from gaining yards is the most asinine thing about the modern era of football. If you’re a QB running with the ball defenders should be able to hit you like anyone else.

I have a REAL solution, REMOVE sliding from the game. Get down EARLY or get hit.

What the defender did after the fact clearly isn’t cool but the hit itself wasn’t as bad as people are saying.

This is what defense should be. You should make every offensive player make business decisions when they have the ball. Make guys not want to make plays. This isn’t even about inflicting physical pain it’s that you mentally break them
