Did you guys know scientists think antimatter goes backwards in time? Hear me yell about the Feynman-Stuckelberg interpretation here: https://t.co/SlyRKg8An9 (new episode drops in a couple of hours too, like share and subscribe… this episode is better tbh)
This was the craziest thing to live through… in Boston we saw it go up live. We knew they were Moononites… we told the police it was obvious advertising. They told us it was being investigated as terrorism? At the time MIT students used to hack LED signs but… now its terror
It’s not like this will take years. Next year China’s AI will be twice as good, the year after that four times, and in one Trump administration we become 1/16 of China’s computing power (which we have monopolized for AI, where they can do whatever).
It’s the end of American Tech dominance writ large. Because companies only have to get government approval, there’s no incentive to innovate, and they just stop producing RAM. So our cutting edge falls exponentially behind places that still have Moore’s Law.
ngl it’s kinda wild that China is the land of hypercapitalist competition fueled by open-weight models anyone can use, and America is the land where the executive branch of government must personally approve you to have the privilege of giving a private company your money
@ledytoss fwiw, there was a theory of the universe based on computability called the bitstring universe that was basically The Matrix, he probably just forgot to reference Noyes, Starson and McGoveran.
@CBSMATTGUTMAN Hey bro, enough physical descriptions of the fire, can we turn our attention to the millions of people not being evacuated and test what is in our air? Who is going to pay to clean this? Who is paying for our mesothelioma?
I am fine with ending the research. Don’t think it’s great there are scientists whose jobs include mass murdering mice. Doesn’t seem like a regular thing to do, nor worth the cost (some of the Alzheimer amyloid plaque faked studies cost real animal lives yikes).
The best part of all this for me is that when I was at Caltech (2006-2014), the mice and monkeys did get the most protestors… but it was far left protestors against animal cruelty.
Animals should not be used for radical transgender experiments.
This is not science. This is ideological cruelty paid for by the American taxpayers.
Our TRANS MICE Act ends it. No federal funds may be used to conduct, support, or fund research aimed at altering an animal's biological sex.
No hormones. No surgeries. No taxpayer dollars spent mutilating animals in the name of transgender ideology.
This legislation brings accountability, ends taxpayer-funded cruelty, and ensures science serves the public, not ideology.
(Wow what a powerful take. Man I bet they haven’t thought this through. I bet its an accident about the screwworm. I bet its an accident about the hantavirus. I bet it an accident about coronavirus. I bet its an accident they let that bioterrorist guy out of jail…)
Anyway, every conference and scientific society is still run by the people who went to the island. There have been zero repercussions for any scientist, aside from insane professional advancement.
@TheRealJChubby (Just a quick note that not even this pathway is being proposed for AI. It’s already too costly before even establishing a monopoly. Nobody has even one time projected a profit for AI ever. And yet! The miracle of non-GAAP financing: you just need the oligarchy on board.)
