Really interesting research study published about school mental health awareness interventions in secondary. Well worth reading https://t.co/EEyTwZBJp4 #secondary#mentalhealth#edutwitter
@DavidDidau Yes, take the structure question for example. You need to have read a significant amount of texts and have a solid schema of different structures in text types. The exam favours readers and English teachers cannot cover this in the curriculum.
Exactly this @MsJasmineMN
Reading is reported as ‘reading ability’ using RA and actual age and then using Class Charts to share the information that goes directly onto the seating plans.
For every school I visited, I would always start with an honest reflection of what they feel they do to support reading. Always amazing to see how much IS done and how much more CAN be done with limited impact on workload/resources too 🔑📚
Direct or explicit instruction seems to be widely misunderstood. It's often characterised as boring lectures with little interaction and not catering to the needs of all students. Nothing could be further from the truth. A short thread 🧵⬇️
