I finished Ever Obi’s ‘Some Angels Don’t See God’ on my flight back to Turkiye. Even though I’m not much into reading literary fiction, yet I delved in with high expectations, considering how beautifully Ever thinks.
There’s a section whose POV switch was just too abrupt for one paragraph. I didn’t like it. I understand that sometimes we can’t help but write in multiple POVs, but there’s something that the sudden switch did to my brain. Might not be able to put it in words but it didn’t feel right.
The gang rape scene! Traumatizing. It felt so real that it left a bitter taste in my mouth. @ever_obi also did something great with the timeline switch. Cinematic. And as for the book generally, so many of us will see fragments of our worlds in them. We won’t be able to deny this.
Overall, it’s a good book. Relatable. It makes you feel. It touches you. And you’ll relive things. I hope to see the next book Ever Obi writes.
‘Some Angels Don’t See God’ is available on Amazon.

@mrcblawrence …believe in it. You must believe in yourself. If you don’t, nobody will. At the end, we will all be fine. If we aren’t, then it isn’t the end. 😊
One of the headaches of living as a writer is having to explain to people that writing isn’t a hobby; it is a task, and getting them to believe that, even for writers, writing is difficult.
@mrcblawrence …the ‘sunk-cost fallacy’ of writing. There is nothing wrong in finding new stories. You might be stuck because you have become disinterested in what you are writing about. Make the bold decision to either continue writing or start over. You must have a good story, you must…
