@kellystevenslab@PhDisaster_ I agree with @kellystevenslab. I was on the market in EE 33 years ago. There were places I would have been the first woman on TT faculty. I am stunned this is discussed in 2022! All we want is that you shouldn't not hire a woman because she's a woman.
@kellystevenslab I am truly sorry about this. Some people are so unhappy that they have to put other people down. You and your beautiful family bring so much joy to people.
Having $ or coming from a rigorous high school can give STEM majors a big leg up. A UW program supports students with less privileged backgrounds, and has graduated 88.

@chornerdevine I just loved seeing Senator Booker's joy at Ketanji Brown Jackson's nomination. It's no surprise that he is from New Jersey. ๐ (BTW, Ketanji Brown Jackson's husband's identical twin is married to my friend Katie Wilson's niece.)
@Lola_UMich @RoyBosun Ranking (by US News and World Report undergrad) is on x-axis. If you're interested in seeing more about this, email me at [email protected] and I can send you the excel spreadsheets. I hope someone at UW will make the graph with the 2020 data.
@Lola_UMich @RoyBosun UW is in both tables. That's our pride point - everyone with a higher % of women faculty is ranked lower than we are. We make graphs like this (from 2019, so old data and CMU at 26% is wrong) to show this.
@Lola_UMich @icetritium2 Excellent point @Lola_UMich! After 40+ years as an electrical engineer, I've been gaslit into thinking having 26% women faculty is something to be proud of. ๐ฉ
@icetritium2 @Lola_UMich Yes, 26.5%. That's clearly not high enough but it's much better than in 1990 when I started as the 4th woman faculty in a department that 8 professors named Robert. (We still have a lot to do on racial/ethnic diversity.)
