@khemaridh tough to track bc it depends on how much content someone had to see before they were motivated to pay
you could have a person read for years vs. someone seeing one post then immediately engaging you
email open/click rates + straightforward questions shed light on individual CAC
@MacroAlf this is a cool visualization
the tricky thing is mean reversion in hopes & dreams is tough to predict
for ex, S&P spent 97% of the time since 2009 trading higher than its average CAPE
valuations are semi-informative about future returns, but IMO difficult to effectively time

Important post that emphasizes "Know what you own".
Long-duration TIPS may not save you when inflation exp changes -- the interest rate risk kills you!
Stick with a shorter duration TIP if your goal is inflation protection!
@TaylorPearsonMe bc engineers are tinkerers. they often approach markets as a machine to figure out and alts are a useful tool to experiment with
IMO docs/lawyers rely more on trusted networks to filter $ advice. more engineers are self-directed and spend more time on researching diff strategies
@foundmyfitness yikes!

@MarginCall4@inglouriouscap still a fan! strategically and tactically
the bond portion of retail portfolios is often 100% regular bonds. I don't like that bc of the inflation risk, so my baseline is always to mix in some TIPS
real yields have also improved, meaning TIPS will capture more of future CPI
@IndraStocks@PrefShares for sure. but if the end goal is to get a major point across to a non-technical investor then basic analogies are not going to be airtight
@denicmarko@smashingmag@Ghost
just switched from wordpress. ghost’s editor is lightweight and distraction-free, default themes are blazing fast, and newsletter distribution is built in
first piece of software I’ve been genuinely excited to use in years!

@Adam_Tkaczuk @JasonMutiny for sure, most TIPS funds have disappointed. avg person thinks they’re a 1:1 inflation tracker and (unfortunately) they’re not
IMO short-term TIPS have still been relatively good compared to most broad taxable bond funds being -10%. but def not an inflation-matching return
