@ChristineMilne The current safeguard mechanism only needs to be tweaked by limiting the use of offsets to say 5%, and ensuring the total cap sticks to the target rate of decline then it would be good policy. These minor but important tweaks would make all the difference.

Great news that @originenergy will be closing Eraring, Australia's biggest coal burner in 2025. Good news for the health and prosperity of NSW, and shows we can be coal free in 2031 by shutting one old power station every 2 years.
