Very good to see ECHR identify the inconsistency between Chand & Semenya judgments on treatment of science as an important basis for ruling in Semenya's favor
This really should trouble World Athletics & other IFs who are implementing science-informed regulations sans science
Here comes the #Semenya thread!
I focus on the impact of the decision beyond the individual fate of Caster Semenya, and assume that the decision is final (while it might be challenged before the Grand Chamber of the ECtHR).
I promise, it’s not as long as the judgment.

18. My 2 cents:
- CAS will have to seriously grapple with the #ECHR in its awards
- SFT will have to seriously review #CAS awards on appeal
- Expect an inflation in #ECHR language/proportionality analysis in transnational #sportslaw
- Human rights lawyers will get jobs at CAS!!!
#Sportslaw breaking!
In watershed (and extremely long) judgment #ECtHR sides with Caster #Semenya and concludes that Switzerland breached #ECHR by condoning #CAS award.

Summary:
1. Semenya could rely on art 14 of the Convention on Human Rights in terms of discrimination on the grounds of sex and sexual characteristics (genetics of high testosterone levels).
A huge thank you @SarahCarrick92 for organising such an excellent conference, full of brilliant content! It was a privilege to present @FIFPRO’s work on the Women’s World Cup and pathway to equality. Thank you to my fellow panellists @ewdrywood + @Scenic82 - until next year!

@AdamJTucker@hartpublishing Poor form Adam. If you actually publish this, who am I supposed to point to when I need to deflect attention from ‘*how* long have you been writing your book?’ (by which, of course, I mean many congrats :-))
@Divinalves@edgehill Aahh, Divin - heard a rumour you’d got it - congratulations! Just wondering when I get my finder’s fee? 😉 Very best of luck and enjoy!
