What do kids read these days?
When I was ten and eleven I discovered Miss Marple, Poirot, and Sherlock Holmes followed quickly by the writings of Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare.
I tried Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys but was bored out of my mind.
Our daughter loves to read history, politics and a number of other subjects. She writes online articles for people on current events. She home-schools her children and the older teens are also interested in history...Texas and US history as well as world history.
The 18 yr old was reading translations of Greek classics before she was 16. I gave her a paperback set of mystery stories, The Cat Who series, and she and her younger sister love them.
The soon to be 13 yr old is crazy about geology and has started collecting fossils. His great-grandad the geology professor would be so proud!
They enjoy Harry Potter and play some computer games with their dad in the evenings but spend much of their time outdoors on the farm.
Husband and I enjoy the Mitch Rapp novels and books on history these days as well as other contemporary authors of crime, politics, and military history.
I also have a nice library of books on knitting as well as a couple of shelves of Catholic writings by various authors.
The girls my age in public school who were reading romance novels are still reading romance novels today. We are not the same and I have difficulty communicating with people these days...I can't imagine why...
Good Morning, X. The humidity is high enough to drown frogs. Ugh. God bless anyone who has to work outdoors today. 80 deg, 80% humidity, thunderstorms headed our way. Again.
However, coffee makes it all better!
@rachbarnhart Married to a cop. Obviously you know nothing of the dedication they have to the job on top of your own lack of respect or love of this country. You don't have a clue. They take an oath. It means something you wouldn't understand.
Good morning! Happy Monday! 🌟 Even the most confident cat walks into the glass sometimes - BONK 😹 - and gets right back up! That's the Monday move: shake it off, chin up, go again. You got this! 💪✨🔊
