I found out today that I’ll finally be returning to Peru this fall!!! I’ll be spending 6 weeks TAing a field course in the amazing Amazon rainforest… I can’t wait to go back!!!
New paper from our collaborative sparrow studies: "Natal experience and pre-breeding environmental conditions affect lay date plasticity in Savannah Sparrows." Now in Ecology.
Led by @ewh_wild@jbburant@RyanNorrisSci with a great team of researchers! I'm proud to be part of it.
Check it out! All the hard work was well worth it. I learned so much through this process, and am thrilled to be able to meaningfully contribute to science. Special thanks to @jbburant, @RyanNorrisSci and @killerwhelan for all their help along the way!
New paper on plasticity in timing of breeding in Kent Island Savannah sparrows is out this week in Ecology (@ESAEcology)! Congrats to everyone involved, especially @jbburant, @ewh_wild (from his undergrad thesis...not too shabby!), and @killerwhelan.

@Birder_Justin Wood Thrush are actually an acceptor species for BHCO, meaning that fitness of host young is often unaffected by cowbird parisitism! However, parasitism does often result in 1.5x higher predation rates which can be detrimental
