Amid the scramble to rescue casualties across multiple Lebanese regions following the latest wave of extensive strikes, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued a new threat, claiming that Hezbollah had moved into “northern Beirut and mixed areas of the city.” He accompanied the statement with a map showing all of Lebanon in red, implying that Israeli strikes would expand geographically.

Avichay Adraee deliberately framed his statement to incite the Lebanese population against Hezbollah, claiming the group had “finished destroying the Dahiyeh and is now repositioning itself outside the southern suburb.” For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that Israel “insisted on separating the war with Iran from the fighting in Lebanon” in order to change the reality on the ground and eliminate threats to northern Israel.

This came roughly two hours after the Israeli military launched what it called Operation “Eternal Darkness,” carrying out more than 100 airstrikes within 10 minutes across various Lebanese regions. Preliminary figures from the Lebanese Ministry of Health estimated dozens of fatalities and hundreds of injuries.

@vvanwilgenburg I just don't see what stops Turkey from absolutely laying waste to this area. They know the land, they have tons of operatives in place, and a white hot hatred of the Kurdish people.

The US/Israel would do nothing to protect the Kurds against Turkey.
