Drake Maye to Efton Chism: Truly Art 🙏

[Ethan Winter 🟦 @EWints7]

@Conor_Myles_68 @BOSSportsGordo We have enough data to prove that the pure Monryball approach can only be successful in the regular season. In order to win in the postseason, you HAVE to supplement it with traditional baseball team building models, ie splurging on star power hitters that don’t fit the “model”

[alex brasky @alexbrasky]

The Bills 3 wins have come over the winless Texans, the winless Chargers and the soon to be 2-2 Lions

Combined record of 2-10. People are gonna start calling him Josh “The Schedule” Allen

[Benjamin Watson @BenjaminSWatson]

Only fitting that the first loss in the Bills new stadium came at the hands of the Patriots. Order.

[Nick Cattles @NickCRadio]

The Pats are a 4th QTR implosion in Seattle from being 3-1.

[Doug Kyed @DougKyed]

Just for the record, Efton Chism has never been on a practice squad. CJ Gardner-Johnson has been on a practice squad.

I’m pretty sure they said the same things about @Edelman11 and he turned into a borderline Hall of Fame player….

[Carlos A. Lopez @LosTalksPats]

Bills CB CJ Gardner-Johnson on the loss to the #Patriots:

“An elevated guy made a hell of a catch. Probably won’t hear from him again. Respectfully.”

“A practice squad player made a hell of a play.”

“They ain’t do s**t better than us.”

[Ethan Winter 🟦 @EWints7]

@jimsoxfan Should have traded him at the deadline last year to San Diego for Dylan Cease and Ethan Salas (reported)

[Michael Hurley @michaelFhurley]

If you thought pulling a stater early was stupid can I introduce you to a catcher trying to stretch a double into a triple after breaking up a no-hitter in the 8th while down one???

[Chris Cotillo @ChrisCotillo]

Random thought, unpacking it all: We all debated the order of starters for weeks only for the Sox to not use them enough. It didn’t matter who went Game 1 and Game 2 if they were going to stick to that script.

[Matthew Crory @matthewcrory]

According to @Ken_Rosenthal “The Phillies at least need to kick around the idea of trading one of (Kyler Schwarber or Bryce Harper)”

“Harper’s deal, too, includes full no-trade protection, and Schwarber just gained full no-trade rights as a player with 10 years of service, five consecutive with the same club. Neither of their deals is oppressive: Harper is owed $118 million over the next five seasons, Schwarber $120 million over the next four. And both players are still major contributors, Harper ranking seventh in the NL in OPS this season, Schwarber ninth.”

“I don’t define seasons as a success or a failure. That’s for other people to define” - @skennedysox

[BostonCommonSense @boston_sense]

The @redsox not resigning Kyle Schwarber in his free agent year for $80M is the worst free agent miss in Boston sports history.

No longer any doubt there, right?

[Alex @Alexzachary305]

Btw, Red Sox fans today would have been happy trading away prime Manny Ramirez bc of “vibes” as well. I care about talent and big power hitters, not the power of friendship

[Ethan Winter 🟦 @EWints7]

@The617Take @CoreyB08 A rotation at DH, won’t work. They need a legit 30/100 guy.

@pumpski_ Brewers/Rays

[Ed Hand @EdHand89]

Still haven't filled in that hole left in the lineup by trading your best hitter because he was being an insolent baby after no one fucking knew how to communicate. The Devers trade continues to be the single dumbest thing the Craig Breslow has done.

[Ethan Winter 🟦 @EWints7]

@s22bos21 @RobStep20437670 @DanBFox1287 It seemed like he wasn’t happy that he got pulled with 2 outs in the 5th inning and wasn’t allowed an opportunity to work out of the jam when he was the best pitcher on the team all year and was the best pitcher in the AL 3rd time through the order.

[Ethan Winter 🟦 @EWints7]

@THEAkeemGlaspie Sorry to hear Akeem. I know how it feels to be let go by USA Today/Gannett. You are a great reporter and will get back on your feet somewhere! Good luck on the next chapter! Wishing you and your family the best!

Time to trade him

2027 contract situation (part 3 of 47): Trevor Story

Story enters the final year of his 6yr/$140M deal signed before 2022. He'll make $25M and his AAV will be $23.33M.

The team also holds a $25M club option for 2028, which is highly unlikely to come to fruition.
