These same things were being said about immigrants in the 1920s and '30s, by the same kind of people.
It was exploitative, dangerous and destructive then.
And it is today.
Immigration should be regulated and controlled. Borders should be enforced.
But immigration has always been a strength of our country. Part of America's secret sauce.
We continue bringing Ukrainians home from Russian captivity. Today, 160 servicemembers were released from captivity. All of them had been held captive since 2022.
Among those released today are servicemembers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, National Guard warriors, and border guards. They defended Ukraine in Mariupol and at Azovstal, as well as in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy sectors.
I thank our entire team, which works every day to bring our people back. Special gratitude to all our units on the frontline who replenish Ukraine’s “exchange fund” and, through their courage, make it possible for us to bring people home. We remember everyone who remains in captivity. We are checking every name. We must bring everyone back – both military personnel and civilians.
We have concluded our work at the Ukraine Recovery Conference #URC2026 in Gdańsk.
A total of 160 agreements worth more than €10 billion were signed this year — the result of the daily work of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the team of all Ukrainian negotiators.
Key outcomes:
🔸 €3.2 billion — the first tranche under Ukraine Support Loan, the EU’s new financial instrument for Ukraine;
🔸 $3.4 billion — a new agreement with the World Bank;
🔸 launch of the European Flagship Fund for the Reconstruction of Ukraine;
🔸 establishment of the Ukraine Transport Support Fund;
🔸 €140 million for housing programmes;
🔸 an agreement with the EIB to restore and protect roads in frontline regions;
🔸 new partnerships in the defence industry and energy sectors.
Today once again confirmed that Ukraine and Europe share the same path, the same values, and the same future🇺🇦🇪🇺
Mamdani: Now, many of you know it’s a city of 8.5 million people. More than 3 million of us were born elsewhere. I’m one of them. We’re a city that’s proud of our immigrant heritage.
And when we think about especially what Haitian New Yorkers have had to deal with—not just for weeks or months or years, but frankly for decades—we have seen a cruelty that has become normalized. And to have people who, frankly, taught the world about freedom have their own freedom be put in jeopardy by the actions of a Supreme Court and a federal administration, it is not only cruel, it’s something that we will not ever accept.
And so we stand here as New Yorkers proud of standing in solidarity and proud to do everything that we can to keep people in their homes and to keep people together.
And we’re proud of that because we know that at the core of what it means to be a New Yorker is also to celebrate the many different places that we all come from, to understand that no matter where we were born, no matter what language we spoke growing up, we belong in the city and the city belongs to us.
And especially when you think about the fact, as you can see here on this pin, a team that brought us all together in the Knicks and reminded us of what it means to be a part of this city—the joy, the emotion, the ecstasy that comes with knowing yourself as a New Yorker.
And it wasn’t just embracing the people next to you whose names you’ve known for years. It was also jumping into the arms of a stranger, watching the game wherever you were, whether it was a LinkNYC kiosk or at a bar or in a backyard or on a delayed stream, somehow in the trunk of a random New Yorker’s car—you were watching the game.
And I think what those weeks also showed us was the magic of the city, and that at the heart of that is each and every New Yorker, no matter how different their stories are, whether they’re Haitian, whether they’re Syrian, whether they’re from wherever it may be in the world. They too are New Yorkers. We’re proud of them, we’re proud of the city.
This week is the first time in 4.5 years that the “special military operation” is affecting the daily life of every resident of Russia.
Once dubbed by McCain as a “gas station masquerading as a country,” Russia is experiencing a fuel crisis because of Ukrainian strikes on its refineries.
To get gas, Russians now must spend hours — sometimes an entire night — waiting in line. Many gas stations just closed, including in Moscow.
The more the Russian government says “don’t panic, there is no fuel shortage,” the more people panic.
When President Trump illegally demolished the White House’s East Wing, he dumped the resulting 35,000 cubic yards of toxic debris on the East Potomac National Park. The administration knew it was dangerous to our people and our environment, but did it anyway. Now, we’re demanding they clean up their mess. https://t.co/7ERKtHueXr
Budanov on Poland revoking Zelenskyy's Order of the White Eagle: Believe me, this hasn't peaked yet. There's more to come if it doesn't stop.
Ancient rule: keep decent relations with neighbors. Fight with those a country away. A security question, wisdom from the Middle Ages. 1/
Massie: "I think it's ironic that we control the House, Senate, Supreme Court, and the White House, and we're yelling 'election fraud'? I mean, we won all the damn elections."
It's time for a national billionaires tax and a new social contract.
10% of Americans own two-thirds of the wealth. Wages have stagnated. The cost of living has skyrocketed.
The system is fundamentally broken.
The federal tax code, a corporate code, and an inheritance code were written for a different set of Americans.
It’s time for an economic reset.

Right words.
Any attempt to freeze the front line would amount to abandoning the principle of Ukraine’s territorial integrity, which EU leaders have reiterated time and again.
Our strategy—our war aim—must be Ukraine’s full victory, the only outcome compatible with our security.
Close to a thousand vehicles are waiting at the Kerch bridge to leave Crimea these days, and just over 200 are waiting on the Russian side to enter. As long as the bridge is mostly used for Russian tourists and settlers to escape what has now become an active war zone, it likely won’t be attacked by Ukraine.
Inflation rose to 4.1%, the first time in three years.
What are trump and Republicans focused on?
-Covering up the Kennedy Center
-Covering up the Reflecting Pool
-Health care plan. Just kidding, GOP has no plan, not even concepts of a plan.
November is coming.
Iceland is at the verge of a referendum to pick up the negotiations on joining the EU. I leave Iceland with one clear conviction: Europe and Iceland already have everything in common for a good partnership.
We share our perspective on democracy, innovation, sustainability and a commitment to shaping our own future.
Iceland shows what smart investments in clean energy can achieve. But our partnership is about much more than energy. It's about strengthening our security, boosting innovation, creating opportunities and building resilience together.
At a time of growing geopolitical uncertainty, Europe cannot afford dependence. Dependence means higher costs, less certainty and less control over our future.
This is why @RenewEurope sees enlargement as a strategic opportunity. By deepening cooperation with democratic partners like Iceland, we can build a stronger, more competitive and more sovereign Europe: together.
Our future is not something we inherit. It's something we build. Europe's next chapter starts with the partners we choose today.
BREAKING: In an incredible moment, President Barack Obama just slammed Donald Trump for being a weakling behind a computer unwilling to stand on business when they meet in person. This is amazing.
MAJOR NEWS: Mayor Zohran Mamdani has delivered on his signature campaign promise after New York City's Rent Guidelines Board voted 7-1 to approve the first-ever two-year rent freeze in the board's history for roughly 1 million rent-stabilized apartments across the city.
