There are two girls in my compound who come to me almost every Sunday to give them money to cook for the three of us.

Today, immediately after Mass, they knocked on my door. Same request: give us money to cook fried rice and chicken.

I paused for a moment and asked how much they needed.

They said 16,000 naira. I gave them 18k, including 2k for transportation. I always ask them to buy a full chicken which goes for around 9 to 10k in my area.

When the food was ready, they served me. I watched closely because the last time, they emptied my pot before leaving.

I asked them to join me at the table but they refused. They said they needed to go home and shower before eating.

I knew something was off. But I could not ask them to wait while I checked the pot. I let them go.

I rushed to checked the pot.

Two pieces of chicken left.

I was furious. I went to confront them and the short one looked at me and said:

"You calm down abeg. Na because of ordinary chicken you dey shout?"

They did me dirty a second time.

No wahala.
