@alancolquhoun1 The idea of 'everything' is also questionable (Graham Priest, Everything and Nothing)
People say that Spinoza's perspective on the issue is nuanced.
@stclairashley I'm still convinced the prolife hardliners are mostly a Communist op against conservative electability. Not totally, but more than any other segment of the conservative movement.
@CrystalHamer9@NoHolyScripture Vance wrote the book foreword for Kevin Roberts of the Heritage Foundation. The project is probably why he is Trump's running mate.
Most of the authors of Project 2025 are Trump's former staff.
Trump is also seen to be regurgitating the contents of the project in his rallies.
Well said. It tells you a lot about Trump's character (it's not so difficult to see this), and how he has 'co-opted' the Republican party. But dissonance and incredulity won't allow some guys to see this.
Reminder that there is zero continuity between the current Republican ticket and its 2012 or 2008 version. While all former Democratic presidents (and presidential candidates) have endorsed Harris (who is strictly in the continuity of Biden and Obama), no former Republican president or candidate has endorsed Trump.
In fact nearly all former members of his own administration have refused to endorse him (40/44 cabinet members, and even his former VP)
I mean, it's not like there are some mysterious people behind the scenes pulling the strings against Trump. The guy is his own worst enemy due to his egotistical (perhaps narcissistic) personality.
There is no 'invisible they' behind the curtains pulling the puppet strings.
The anti 'deep state' narrative by MAGAs only cements the notion that Trump's political machine is based on a personality of cult. Whereby, the defining feature is gaslighting, paranoia, conspiracy and incredulity (even in the face of hard hitting evidence about their candidate).
@mysteriouskat I don't think biological determinism is true.
There are movies that explore this theme: such as Woody Harrelson's performance in 'Natural Born Killers' or the 2003 German film Blueprint.

@mysteriouskat Perhaps a) the 'replication crisis' in psychology and b) social sciences 'not being fully scientific'; is partially due to Malinowski's anthropological perspective?
@mysteriouskat It depends on what you mean by 'magic'.
I don't believe in magical thinking, but Life and Consciousness is magical ('Maya').
In some way, society is also 'magical' (in Bronislaw Malinowski's sense).

Here's what this means for the US ๐บ๐ธ, EU ๐ช๐บ, Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ, and Russia ๐ท๐บ, from the perspective of a Ukrainian-US tech entrepreneur who's been covering Telegram's Kremlin connections and security holes for the last 15 months. Thread: 1/X
This new episode of #TulsiXTruth reveals the truth that the power elite donโt want us to hear. Which of our Constitutional freedoms do you believe is most under attack in America right now?
Why give in to the 'darkness' and fear-mongering of these 'extreme right-wingers' (in the *proxy of free speech*), while you have a great opportunity for creating a better and cohesive communities, by virtue of being the owner of this beautiful platform?
Why is it that Musk has a habit of giving credence to divisive tactics of 'extreme right-wing' propaganda?
I respect Musk for being the owner of this platform, but why the divisive propaganda?
Trump killed the bipartisan border bill under Biden/Harris, then bragged about it.
But now MAGAs (aided by the media) want us to believe that Trump's policy on immigration is better than Biden/Harris. They also want us to believe that Trump is better on Economy, which isn't true.
I will say this. Legal immigration into the U.S. is quite difficult.
Illegal immigration seems rather easy.
And that doesn't seem right.
A moral and philosophical case can be made for not having borders, but we live in reality, where borders very much exist. And if they exist, then countries have the right and responsibility of enforcing them.
It's true that many of the people coming in are good people trying to escape horrible situations. But it is also true that amongst them are criminals and even those on terror watch lists.
If you believe that the good people deserve a chance to come in, then you should make LEGAL frameworks for that and keep the border secured to ensure that your country is protected from those who are not willing to respect the law.
There is a lot of illegal labor right now that is contributing to the country's economy through their work and many even pay taxes. Many say the country would collapse without it.
Well, if it is, in fact, necessary, then it should be made legal. Provide a process for temporary labor Visa for migrant workers. It will help protect them too. And perhaps it can come with an eventual pathway to citizenship (eg. If they are in good standing for X number of years, with no criminal history).
Change the system to be better, but don't let the system be abused. Which is what is happening now.
This should be a bi-partisan stance.
If you aren't willing to enforce a border, don't have one.
But you do.
Context matters here. The guy's record is in the public domain, and we have seen his shenanigans with our own two eyes. There is nothing exceptional or deep here. It's plain and simple.
This is a lack of practical understanding of politics masked as 'spirituality'.
FYI, I'm not against 'individuation' per se. But using these concepts to 'whitewash' that guy is peak motivated reasoning and self-deception.
This proves to me that RFK Jr is a highly individuated soul. Individuation will often cost you family, friends, and it can be a very lonely and alienating path because of this. This is why people who start to wake up will still go along with the mainstream - because the pressure from friends and family is too much to bear. You have to respect him for taking this risk.
