In today’s video, Katie shares her passion for supporting young learners, the skills she’s developing through her apprenticeship, and how the programme is helping her grow both professionally and personally.

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with Anna, one of our Customer Service Apprentices and a former @TedWraggTrust student, to hear how her journey from school to apprenticeship has shaped her future.

Anna shared how discovering the way she learns best helped her choose an apprenticeship that allows her to grow in confidence, gain real-world experience, and develop the skills for life that will stay with her long after her training.

Her story is a brilliant example of how apprenticeships open doors, build capability, and support young people to thrive in their chosen careers.

Congratulations to our apprentice, Ted, who achieved second place in the Regional Sparks Competition! ⚡

Ted is currently undertaking an Installation and Maintenance Electrician Apprenticeship.

Fellow Electrician apprentices Will and Tom also represented us in the competition - well done to both for their efforts!

Our apprentice Katie will also be entering the Female Sparks Competition. We wish her the very best of luck. 🤞🏻

Celebrating Our Apprentice Award Winners! 🎉

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our outstanding apprentice winners at the Exeter College Student Awards 👏

🏆 Apprentice of the Year – James Molloy @WillmottDixon

James achieved a Distinction on the Level 3 ICT Technician programme, demonstrating exceptional determination, resilience and academic strength. With British Sign Language as his first language, James has shown remarkable independence, adaptability and problem-solving skills, while also being a supportive and valued member of his class. We’re delighted that he has now secured a role within the College supporting our IT labs, a truly well-deserved achievement.

🏆 Higher Apprentice of the Year – Darren Westlake @GWRHelp

As a registered blind learner balancing work and apprenticeship training, Darren consistently demonstrated positivity and dedication to achieving excellence. He is an outstanding mature student who has shown exceptional perseverance, determination, and commitment throughout his time at College. He overcame challenges with resilience and focus, achieving his Level 4 Data Analysis Apprenticeship with an overall Merit grade.  

Congratulations to James and Darren, you are a real credit to your employers and Exeter College 🌟

✅ 1 Restaurant Takeover (Hall & Woodhouse apprentices)
✅1 ex-apprentice guest speaker who inspired our Business students
✅ 70+ student interviews and apprenticeships offered
✅ Our TRA's visited multiple tutor groups and held workshops
✅ 600+ students were inspired face-to-face

We had a fantastic turnout of Exeter College students in the IOT Lecture Theatre, all engaged and eager to learn about apprenticeships🙌

Last night, Exeter College apprentices working with Hall & Woodhouse led a full restaurant takeover at Exeter College’s @ 34 restaurant, planning, preparing, and delivering a complete menu.

The event was an excellent showcase of industry collaboration, apprenticeships in action, and emerging hospitality talent. Congratulations to all our apprentices involved! 🩷
