Opportunity cost aside, Macquarie Pt offers several advantages over the existing Hobart stadiums - transport, noise controls, minimal encroachment, proximity to CBD etc.

In a city of 5+ mil, the MCG only averages about 50% of its 100k capacity across the approx. 45 games it hosts a season. Not including the GF, less than 10% would sell outs.

A half empty stadium with no atmosphere will be terrible for a Tas team.
