A lot of eucalypt forests naturally limit bushfires if they're allowed to mature. We worked out how they do it, and how we can tap into that to mitigate fire risk. 1/6

Say NO! This incinerator proposal does not add up. Please sign this petition To a Waste to Energy Incinerator in Wollert https://t.co/7GZCXsDgzr via @ChangeAUS
Today's @TheNewDailyAu column: climate change is worse than the pandemic. The need to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere needs the same sort of fiscal and monetary response as Covid.

Wow, 26 hollows have been counted in this tree. Security guy just kicked me off the site while I was inspecting. He said tree is dangerous. Might be a case of good old Aussie #arboraphobia à la Robin Boyd.
For every $ invested in capital works for private schools, public schools get between 27 and 50cents. FFS! How long must our kids put up with this blatant inequality? https://t.co/AKIZS066QN
Wood heaters produce disproportionate levels of pollution. Consider nearly all households have cars, but only 5-10% have wood heaters but wood heaters emit the most pollution. @DEECA_Secretary@IngridStitt people need support to move to cleaner heating.
Do you own a🐕🐩🐕🦺? This sad story from Melb reminds us that one of the most important things that we dog owners can do to help wildlife is to keep our dogs on leash unless it is a designated dog-off leash areas. Every dog owner can make a difference.

Labor’s Environment Action Network (Lean) has now signed up 294 branches for its push to end native forest logging and broad-scale land clearing, but both policies were omitted from the draft national platform distributed to delegates on Monday.

@ConservationReg These are forest reserves for all - What are the fines and/or other community service imposed on those who continue to show this huge disrespect for the community?
To be clear, these are not outlying findings; there is no empirical evidence to show that fuel load drives the rate of fire spread. Studies claiming this relationship are from models built on the disproved science. What about fire intensity then?

I measured the same trends for all forests in the south-eastern ranges. In all cases, fire - both prescribed and wild - caused increased flammability for decades.

Fantastic presentation on Declonising Fire Science by @Phil_Zylstra @RoyalSocietyVic last night. And great perspectives from Uncle Dave Wandin.

Our planet is burning. Millions are under heat warnings as world shatters temperature record after temperature record. This is only the beginning.
The longer we delay. The worse it will be.
No time to wait. Dump fossil fuels. #ActOnClimate
We are urging @VicGovAu to speed up the acquisition & protection of Victoria's critically endangered grasslands - only 1% remain in good condition & most are still on private land. Many threatened species depend on them. @IngridStitt@DanielAndrewsMP
