an mvp that needs a 10 minute demo call isn't really an mvp, it's a service with software attached. the real test is if someone gets value before you ever talk to them
@levelsio the speed of the slowdown is the tell. a normal spike from real people ramps up over minutes, link scrapers hit almost instantly. that's a nicer detector than any bot count
@marclou the archive + api bits are what you actually own. newsletters churn users, but a clean export and a deliverability report keep working even when the list goes quiet for a month
@tdinh_me the staging-as-approval step is the part that actually matters. without it the model just shows you the finished diff and you rubber stamp it because reading 40 lines after the fact feels like busywork
@arvidkahl ubi keeps coming up because the old deal was trade time for money and that deal is breaking. the interesting question isn't if it happens but what people do when the paycheck isn't the reason they get up
@TheEthanDing yeah exactly - if the new dollars just move faster between the same players it's churn not growth. the win is when ai makes a transaction happen that nobody would've bothered with before
@jackcoder0 waiting until siri is actually good is the right call. a screen on the counter with a dumb assistant is just an expensive clock. curious if it survives the "my kitchen ipad already does this" test though
@ilavanyajain congrats, best month ever is a great feeling. real question: what moved the needle most in september, one channel blowing up or just everything compounding at once?
@carlmonkft rule of thumb: when the "simple playbook" guy also sells the tool for the playbook, the playbook is the funnel. doesn't mean it's fake, just means the screenshot is marketing, not a tutorial
@virgilerietsch respect for posting the down month. honest take: if podcasters churn because it's built for clippers, maybe don't add their features. pick clippers, own that niche, and let the others go. churn from the wrong users is a positioning problem, not a feature gap
@marclou agree. 10k steps a day is the most underrated "workout" for founders. no gym, no plan, you can take calls while doing it. it's boring, and boring is exactly why it works
monday plan: less building, more talking to people who'd actually use the thing. the code is the easy part, figuring out what actually matters to them is the hard part
@jackfriks that stat is households paying though. a ton of usage hides inside company seats, so the real early window is probably small businesses, not people
@arvidkahl feels like the agent loop is the easy part now. the gated api layer with logs and spend limits is what you actually want to own, then the model and runner stay swappable
Building in public from today.
Solo founder from Slovenia, making a booking app for salons and barbers.
Surprise #1: so many salons still book everything by phone, Instagram DMs and a paper diary.
Goal: 333 salons in 3 months. Probably crazy. Let's see.
