Neptune & Triton this morning - my first view of 2026!
A relatively quiet view with no storms visible.
24" Dob, Uranus-C/M at 9000mm f/15. (IR)RGB.
Btw they also discovered that the density of Io's surface is so low it's comparable to volcanic ash (lower than the Moon's regolith) and also the whole surface of Io being relatively smooth other than the mountains standing out

@Danteyote_@NaukaC73983 It's not that either. Neptune is interesting too, just in a different way from Uranus. The ocasional dark spots it has are linked to the Sun's activity cycle, and it is the responsible of maintaining so many KBOs in resonances (few examples). So no, not a boring version of Uranus

@astro_jaz Dragonfly should have more hype than the 283738474838373837th mission to Mars honestly. It's a cool planet but the outer solar system gets barely any priority when it comes to missions
