Having been part of the industry for 50 years, I can confidently report that none of this is true.
Sure, writing code has a non-zero cost; this is true of any artifact.
But you know what costs even more, Jonathan?
Writing bad code; writing unnecessary code; writing more code than you really need simply because you think you might need it someday or you are too lazy or sloppy to clean up after yourself.
Anything that costs nothing is often worth nothing as well, and results in significant unintended consequences.
@asha_shar Hi Asha!
Do you think it might be possible to enable an API for Mouse Support for UWP apps? I know it's an old platform, but this is my most asked feature for my app (Moonlight UWP) and it would be awesome to find a way to enable it, thank you!
"so who's your favo—"
any italian man: charles marc herve perceval leclerc is the love of my life, the light of my eyes, and if i have to make unspeakable sacrifices just to feel the warmth of his gaze on my skin for a few passing moments i would do so without a second thought.
@Stasiu_Botowski@JesseStojan@xdadevelopers But in this specific case (exposing server only to specific clients that are authorized) it's acutally safer, also Wireguard/Tailscale/Zerotier are actually free
@SergioB1260 @SoevereineNar @FFmpeg Didn't know was a thing, thank you! Would be interesting to know if it works decently with newer generations of consoles
I’m pleased to announce that San Francisco now has a shrine to Saint Carlo Acutis and a prayer of intercession for programming problems!
Carlo was an Italian teenager who built several influential websites sharing the miracles of the faith in the early 2000s. He passed away from cancer at the age of 15 and was canonized as a saint this year.
I pitched this project to Father Illo at Star of the Sea as a way for the church to reach out to the tech community that drives our city with one of our own. I have been taking my own programming and technical challenges to Carlo every week for some time now and have benefited greatly from his intercession.
You don’t have to be Catholic or even Christian to come pray! Simply go to Star of the Sea parish anytime and you can find Carlo in the back of the sanctuary with the necessary prayer attached on a plaque. If you ever run into difficulties, know that you are not alone - the saints are here to help.
Special thanks to our donors who made this possible. God bless!
To forgive does not mean to deny evil, but to prevent it from generating further evil. It is not to say that nothing has happened, but to do everything possible to ensure that resentment does not determine the future.
