Be advised that the leaders tasked with the responsibility of removing you from office by Kenyans require no sponsorship. They have clear, and sufficient instructions from the people of Kenya. This is the first presidential election where money is not a factor. Kenyans are so determined to get rid of you that they don't require any inducement.

It never occurred to gafment that their statement about Burundians would get messy?

That it would put our neighbours in harms way? That it would place our people in Burundi - and other parts of Africa - in a sticky situation? That "we" would look bad? Fighting poor hawkers who've never caused us harm?

I have just watched the Foreign Affairs PS explain - with egg all over his face - that "we" were misunderstood. Why didn't the initial communication about this Burundian issue emerge from the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, or his PS?

Now, we have to heighten police patrols in areas where the Burundians reside, and Dr Sing'oei has had the misfortune of explaining that "we" goofed.

We've also had to watch Mining CS Joho explain the reasoning behind asking the Wahindi at Magadi Soda to vamoose. His explanation is solid. Again, why did this announcement not emerge from Joho's desk? It didn't occur to government that that statement would make foreign investors nervous about putting their cash in a place where they can be ordered - Idi Amin style - to pack and go?

And if it was paramount that the President makes those statements, shouldn't it have been through a written brief? Prepared by his experts? Checked for clarity? Diplomacy? Facts? Ambiguity? Issued from State House, and not on the campaign trail?

Communication from the desk of the Commander-in-chief MUST ALWAYS be beyond reproach, because he speaks on behalf of 50 million Kenyans, including the scoundrels harassing Warundi.

We are very, very, very lucky that no Burundian got killed. Very lucky.

In Uganda, President Amin has ordered the expulsion of nearly 80,000 Asians, whom he claims are 'milking the economy' and denying the country's African population what he says is their rightful share of the economic benefits of independence. The Asians have only three months to sell up their property and move out.

About 50,000 of them hold British passports and Britain has accepted responsibility for them.

The Asians have been part of the East African scene for over a hundred years. By virtue of their industry and intelligence, they have established themselves as the main professional and commercial class.

Entry-level basic pay for officers graduating from police training colleges has risen from KSh. 20,390 to KSh. 38,975, while serving Police Constables can now earn up to KSh. 57,700, up from KSh. 29,296.

Implemented in phases between 2024 and 2026, the review has delivered increases of up to 40% for officers in the lowest cadres, putting more money in the pockets of those at the frontline and giving greater value to the demanding work of keeping Kenyans safe.

If the President must personally become the Health CS, PS and Director, then what exactly are we paying the people occupying those offices to do?

Watching President Ruto conduct a town hall on health issues raises a serious question about accountability in government.

We have a Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary, directors and an entire ministry full of experts whose job is to run the health sector.

Why then does the President have to step in and do their work?

If they cannot deliver, perhaps it is time to ask the hard question: Why keep them in office?

Kenya needs functioning institutions not a presidency that has to micromanage every ministry.
