Last night in Taksim Square at 10:30pm on a Sunday, it felt like a city still alive. Shops open,Restaurants packed,Families out. Tourists spending. Nike still serving customers with tills ringing long into the night. The economy moving in real time. Meanwhile back home in the UK, you can’t even do a proper weekly food shop after 5pm on a Sunday. We constantly talk about growth, struggling high streets and boosting the economy, yet we voluntarily shut huge parts of it down during some of the busiest leisure hours of the week. Imagine the impact of extended Sunday trading: ✅More flexibility for working families ✅ More hours for staff who want them ✅ More spending in town and city centres ✅More footfall for restaurants, bars and transport ✅More tax revenue ✅Less pressure cramming everyone into Saturdays Being here supporting Aston Villa has highlighted just how different the mindset is elsewhere. Istanbul feels like a city that embraces activity, tourism and consumer spending rather than restricting it. The UK doesn’t need to copy everything, but on this one, it genuinely feels like we’re holding ourselves back. #AVFC

AKP döneminde İstanbul'da metrolar gece 00.00'da kapanırdı. Hiçbir Avrupa büyük şehrinde böyle bir uygulama yoktu. Hepsinde belli dönemler gece de çalışırdı. Şikayet ettiğimizde güvenlik ve maliyetleri önümüze atıyorlardı. İmamoğlu geldi ve gece metrosu uygulamasını başlattı. AKP zihniyeti bahane bulma ve "nasıl hizmet götürmem" zihniyetidir.
