SWE by training, solo builder by choice | Shipping apps with AI until I hit $10k MRR | Currently building @planandhang - Ai hangout Planner | Tech talk & videos
i have a bad habit of telling myself i'll sleep at 11pm.
i never do.
so i built SleepLock, it locks my apps at bedtime automatically and won't unlock them until an hour after i wake up.
i built it for me. but i think a lot of you need it too ๐
Day 6. Monday. Back at it.
Two things on the agenda today:
1. Working on a video showing exactly how @planandhang works, so you can see the full experience before it launches.
2. Testing and improving Sidekick.
Sidekick is the AI at the core of the app. It's the feature that actually does the heavy lifting, handling the coordination, suggestions, and planning so you don't have to.
Getting this right is the priority. Everything else is details.
More updates as the week goes. ๐งต
@hthieblot friend groups lose touch not because they stop caring, but because planning a hangout is exhausting. PlanAndHang fixes that.

Saturdays hit different when you're building something.
Rain outside. Parked up. Claude Code open. @planandhang getting better one prompt at a time.
This is what the road to $10k MRR actually looks like. Not glamorous. Just consistent.
@saen_dev@planandhang You're right, and honestly that's exactly why I'm documenting everything publicly. Building the audience and the product at the same time is the strategy.
A laptop. Internet. Consistent focus.
That's the entire setup.
No office. No team. No funding.
Just me building apps with AI until I hit $10k MRR.
We're on day 5 and @planandhang is already past the development stage.
The barrier to building has never been lower. The only thing left to compete on is showing up every day.
So that's what I'm doing.
@_JohnBuilds_@planandhang Exactly this. The window is open right now, AI has levelled the playing field. The only edge left is who actually shows up and ships.
Day 5 building apps with AI till I hit $10k
Working on something different today.
Putting together a full video on how I actually build apps with Claude.
Not a surface-level overview, the real workflow:
โ Claude for research & PRDs
โ Claude Design for UI & design systems
โ Claude Code for frontend, backend, and API integration
From idea to working app. Step by step.

Day 4 building apps with Ai till I hit $10k MRR, Dev work for PlandAndHang is mostly done. Now it's distribution mode.
Been studying how other builders got their apps to users, Starter Story's YouTube has been a goldmine.
Lot of different playbooks out there. I'm taking what's relevant and building my own.
Because the best distribution strategy is the one that fits your app and your audience, not someone else's.
More details coming soon.
@Thomas_Tao_1 Hmmn this is a really good reframe.
I've been thinking about it as a channel problem but you're right, if the message isn't specific enough, no channel is going to save it.
Defining the exact person PlanAndHang is for is probably the work I need to do first.
Someone just joined the PlanAndHang waitlist.
First one. And honestly that one hit different.
You can build for weeks and still wonder if anyone actually cares. Then one person signs up and the whole thing gets real.

Testers get 3 months free at launch.
Using ngrok during testing, quick tip if you're building mobile apps.
Problem: backend runs locally, mobile app can't reach localhost.
Fix: ngrok tunnels your local server to a public URL in one command.
No deployments on every fix. No cloud costs mid-test. Just a live URL your app can hit while you iterate.
Deploy to a real server when the build is ready. Not before.
Day 3 building with AI till I hit $10k MRR
Testing phase.
The advantage of building something you actually need? You can test it like a real user without pretending.
Gone through the app end-to-end, caught a few rough edges, made fixes on both the frontend and backend to get everything running smooth.
Where I'm spending the most time: the AI Sidekick.
That's the core of PlanAndHang. The feature that takes the friction out of planning, so it has to be sharp, not just functional.
Once I'm satisfied on my end, I'm rolling out to a small group of testers.
Here's the deal, if you test it, you get 3 months free when it launches.
