Polls or committees should have zero bearing on the playoff selection and seeding. It should be entirely an open-source computer algorithm, decided and finalized before Week 0, that does not use polls as a parameter.

For the record, I'm running my own computer rankings that would have put ND, Miami, and BYU in. The SEC is systematically overrated. But I have yet to see an on-field performance from the team this year that signals any shot that they can win the national championship.

I can maybe see valid reasons why K-State/ISU are declining, but ND is declining because they don't want BYU to win the game and definitively prove that ND is not a playoff caliber team.

@MorosKostas Some part of me is hoping that this is what will what will happen with the under-21 cases. Unfortunately the conferencing history of these cases is different from the under-21 cases, and I don't know if that's a meaningful difference or if it doesn't matter.
