Today’s #KUCancerFighter hero is Chris Baylow, a 60 year-old-from from Marblehead, MA currently battling T2 Esophageal Cancer.
This father of two & stepfather of three was first diagnosed in April 2025 & recently had successful surgery on September 25th. Chris is set to start four more rounds of chemotherapy just before Thanksgiving. He’s got a tremendous, determined attitude on his road to recovery and is enjoying being surrounded by family and friends.
Given his Massachusetts roots, Chris is a huge Boston sports fan but he loves the Jayhawks too, as one of his sons, Gus, is a recent KU grad and outstanding sportscaster currently serving as Voice of the Frederick Keys ⚾️.
In addition to supporting his boys, Chris also volunteers his time as an adaptive ski instructor during the winter and his family describes him as someone who “always does what’s best for others.”
Chris lists Ochai Agbaji as his favorite Jayhawk of all time. Chris, we’re so impressed by your strength, determination & positive attitude. Jayhawk Nation is pulling for you and today’s Homecoming call is for you! Rock Chalk!

Erik Spoelstra described the difference between this group of young players and those in the past:
“What’s different about this group is it’s been a pack, a pack of wolves. That’s what’s different.” via @KJHKsports
