近日香港接連發生令人痛心的虐待動物事件，不少無辜生命在恐懼與痛苦中離世。牠們未必能夠以言語控訴，但每一個生命都值得被尊重、被善待，亦值得在離開之後，得到一份真誠的悼念與祝願。

有見及此，香港動物權益協會與聖智院・不動堂將合辦「悼念受虐動物・東密真言宗薦拔超度法會」，以東密真言宗儀軌修法、誦經及迴向，悼念近日因虐待而離世的動物，願牠們遠離怖畏與苦難，得蒙佛力攝受，往生善趣。

法會亦會為香港一切曾受虐待、遺棄及傷害的動物作總迴向，祈願所有仍在人間受苦的生命早日獲得救助與安穩；亦願大眾生起慈悲與尊重生命之心，讓同類事件不再發生。

“Media reports and villager accounts confirm the same boys had beaten Wangwang multiple times before the fatal incident, prompting her to repeatedly move her puppies to different hiding spots around the village, including narrow drainage/sewer areas, to escape harassment.

She frequently returned to check on an older surviving pup (from a previous litter) at a villager’s home but would retreat to secluded spots with her newest litter for safety, showing ongoing attempts to evade the abusers.

I fail to understand why not one of the villagers took her and her puppies in… They knew what was going on, they knew the deeds of that family… The final abuse of this sweetheart lasted an hour, yet no one interfered? I just don’t understand.

Her name is Wangwang. She happily plays in puddles on rainy days. Discarded kitchen scraps are her precious feast. A few tattered plastic bags are her warm bed.

In April and early July this year in Shanxi, a 12-year-old Chihuahua and a helpless 20-day-old nursing puppy were skinned alive in separate incidents.

Despite the pet hospital pouring every effort into saving them, both dogs died in agony from massive skin loss, severe infection, and unbearable pain.
