@A_C_Robinson@0mgould Wasn't involved in decision making, hence my wondering. Still think GISci and ICA are different, because aiming to reach/build global audience. #AAG2024 on Hawaii is, geographically speaking, more like a Euro-AGILE conference on Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon :-)
I cannot help but wonder why the Association of American Geographers chose to have the conference in such a remote place which requires every participant to fly thousands of miles. Shouldn't we (scientists), like, not at least try to set a good example? #AAG2024
@0mgould And it won't reduce CO2 emissions, because those flights are covered by the EU Emissions Trading System (https://t.co/xkAe46Rm9t) and the "CO2 budget" freed up will just go elsewhere (within the EU). (Disclaimer: That's how I understood the EU ETS, I might be wrong)
A pre-holiday reminder 🎄that I am advertising two fully-funded PhD positions at the @univofstandrews, on animal movement 🐬and migratory navigation🐦. Thread. 👇👇👇
The day after the national elections our beautiful international community is reminded how much we value the presence of everyone. 🌍💚
@FacultyITC#UTwente
@jesstpiotrowski Well, I live in Omtzigtland, who seems to dislike his own region's university especially, given his plans. Nevermind that he himself was a happy international student in the UK and Italy! Oh, the irony. But yeah, most voters chose scapegoating us over construtive solutions.
I don't understand why there wasn't a general offer for Covid booster shots this autumn? I certainly would have taken one. We have a veritable epidemic crashing through our faculty. The cost for the vaccination is certainly lower than the cost of lost productivity and work hours!
@wietekewillemen Well, more like three days. Road crew wasn't finished this morning. They nicely took turns with the construction crew still working on our facade to keep us awake during seminars. The end of a very productive and stressfree work week. Well-being much?
@MobileHarv And what people tend to forget: Nazi rise to power did not happen over night and was not uncontested. Ruthlessness, brutality, and perseverance whittled down opposition, which was not united and partially underestimated Hitler. The economic crisis and conservatives did the rest.
@abloescher@honx@hartaberfair@hubertus_heil@spdde@DasErste Habe da mehrere Jahre gelebt. Kommt darauf an.
We are hiring! Do you have a track record in pushing the boundaries of visualizing spatio-temporal data? Do you want to work in an international team on solving global issues and help achieve sustainable development goals? https://t.co/DUPhWBeeLb
Thanks a lot for inviting me to the panel, it was my pleasure and honor to discuss the topic with so many engaged colleagues on the panel and the audience! I learned a lot. Looking forward to continue the collaboration with such a motivating and inspiring network!
One month to deadline for Tenure Track Professorship in Urban Analytics. By 2050 up to 70% of world population projected to live in cities. Could you build a group studying theories and methods in this area?
