To be clear - the April price cut on energy cap will go ahead, and domestic consumers will be protected until July, but IF the situation around Qatar and Hormuz sustains for several weeks, in July there could well be a significant rise…
On petrol - calmer heads, a 10% rise in oil IF sustained would mean several pence on a litre in a fortnight on pump prices… noticeable but not a supply shortage.
Will petrol prices go up now?
(Answer: Possibly, in a few weeks, but with the Iran situation it’s too soon to tell how much) - Faarea Masud, BBC News.: https://t.co/ZNnEFjFeiS #oil#fuel#Iran#opec
…but apparently there are other ways to impose tariffs to make up for those struck down by the Supreme Court. (The Supreme Court decision only applies to around half of the overall average effective tariff rate since trump returned to office the 2nd time)
Blimey. Almost every single stock market in the world has turned upwards after Trump’s tariffs were deemed ‘not valid’ by the US Supreme Court (Asian markets closed). #tariffs#USSupremeCourt#TrumpTariffs
